Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown Will Not Seek Spousal Support From Kody After Breakups
Sister Wives stars, Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown, will not seek spousal support after cutting ties with their spiritual husband, Kody Brown.
“This is such BS,” a source told In Touch of the reported rumor, calling the claim that Kody’s exes were lining up for alimony “not true at all.”
Reports of potential alimony requests swirled shortly before Meri and Kody confirmed their permanent breakup, in a joint statement posted on Instagram.
“In light of a recent unapproved press release, we feel compelled to share our own truth, in our own way and in our own timing. After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we have made the decision to permanently terminate our marriage relationship,” the statement read.
“During this process, we are committed to kindness and respect toward each other and to all members of our family, and we are all committed to the continued healing of any and all relationships within the family so that we can move forward with forgiveness, grace, and love.”
The statement seemingly shaded TLC for splicing footage from the Sister Wives: One-on-One special, to imply that Kody had officially ended any chance of reconciliation with Meri after 33 years together. Meri clarified in her caption that the clip aired before they had made the final decision to part ways, adding that “there is so much more to be told about this story.”
Rumors circulated for weeks ahead of Kody and Janelle confirming their own separation, during the three-part series.
“Janelle is a strong independent woman and realized she can do it on her own,” an insider told In Touch before the couple went public with their breakup. The tipster added that the mom of six “outgrew him.”
Fans know that Christine Brown was the first to walk away from the plural marriage, breaking the bombshell news on Instagram in November 2021, after a 25-year spiritual marriage. Kody is currently with his one remaining and only legal wife, Robyn Brown, whom he spiritually wed in 2010. Kody and Robyn legally tied the knot in 2014, in order for Kody to adopt Robyn’s three children from a previous marriage.
Christine claimed during the tell-all that she didn’t see Kody and Robyn actually “looking for a new wife” after the family’s implosion, but earlier this month, an insider claimed otherwise.
The source told In Touch that Kody is “definitely actively looking” for another spiritual partner.
“He’s a proud polygamist, that’s the lifestyle he’s accustomed to and in his mind,” the snitch dished.
The source added that Kody wouldn’t be “happy” in a solo relationship with Robyn.
Robyn has also confessed that she wanted a plural marriage—not a monogamous one—with the father of 18.
The source added—“Kody may not be a catch to the average, modern woman, but there are plenty of women in this community who would jump at the chance to be one of his wives.”
