‘Sister Wives’ Meri Wants Kody Back Despite Him Treating Her Like Garbage
Sister Wives star, Meri Brown, hasn’t completely closed the door on her relationship with her ex Kody Brown.
In a sneak peek of Sunday’s episode of Sister Wives: One-on-One part 3, Meri Brown opens up about her plans for the future now that she’s single, and not surprisingly she still wants Kody back.
Meri confirmed her split from Kody in December 2022 after they had been in a polygamous marriage for more than 30 years. When asked about a possible reconciliation with the family patriarch, Meri said, “I don’t know. Time will tell, won’t it? It’s for me to decide. He’s decided, so now what?”
The Sister Wives star admitted she didn’t understand Kody’s recent decisions, especially when it came to their marriage. “This is what I say, people change. Maybe he’s just at this place that’s like, ‘She’s just not for me anymore’ and he’s now finally just saying it.”
This fact doesn’t seem to bother Meri anymore because since leaving Kody, her self-confidence has gone up. “I don’t think Kody realizes the sh-t that I am,” she says. “If he hasn’t realized it so far, you know, maybe he never will and maybe he doesn’t want it.” Meri also says she was shocked when Kody said in a confessional that he didn’t feel like he was married to her.
“It just doesn’t make sense to me that he would be so frustrated with Christine and be like, ‘She just made this decision. We didn’t consult, we didn’t talk, she just made the decision.’ And then he says, ‘No, I don’t consider myself married to Meri,” she added, “Like, he just made the decision. I’ve never heard him say that to me.”
Kody had opened up in an earlier episode of Sister Wives that his divorce from Christine really affected him compared to his split from his other two wives. Kody, at the moment, is only in a romantic relationship with Robyn Brown after his other wives Janelle, Christine, and Meri left him. In 2014, Meri officially divorced Kody so he could marry Robyn legally and adopt her three kids, David, Aurora, and Breanna from a previous relationship.
In 2021, Kody hinted at a split between him and Meri in an interview with Us Weekly where he said if any of his wives wanted to leave, they could.
“Meri and I have been in a very dark place for a long time. It’s been more about trying to get ourselves out of this hole that we dug ourselves into. … I feel like [my wives] need to understand that — that they can leave. If it’s not working for them, they can leave. Nobody’s going to be a prisoner here.”
The next year, Kody revealed during the Sister Wives Tell All that he no longer wants to be intimate with Meri because it felt like “emotional torture.”
“I’m not ever going to be in a conjugal relationship with her because I’m not going to go through that emotional torture ever again … I’m not trying to make Meri sound bad, it’s just a bad match.”
Christine Brown weighed in on the split between Kody and Meri she said, “Oh, my heart breaks when I think about their marriage. I don’t want that. I don’t want to be in a loveless marriage. I don’t know how she does it. I guess she’s more fine with it than I am.”
At the time, Meri was still hopeful about a future with Kody, but afterward, she took some time to focus more on her life with her children.
Sister Wives: One-On-One part 3 airs on January 8, 2023, at 10:00 pm ET, on TLC.
