Jen Shah’s Upcoming Sentencing Is A Tailgate Party To ‘RHOSLC’ Fans
Jen Shah will be sentenced on Friday and Real Housewives of Salt Lake City fans have been counting down the days until the reality star’s fate is sealed. Shah pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, in July.
Followers of the legal drama have flooded Twitter in recent days to swap comments, memes, and general glee over a “Housewife” landing behind bars for the first time since New Jersey star, Teresa Giudice, checked into a federal prison to serve a one-year sentence, in January 2015.
In March 2021, Jen Shah was arrested for running a nationwide telemarketing scheme that targeted hundreds of people, specifically the elderly. Shah initially professed her innocence but eventually admitted wrongdoing after her codefendants pled guilty.
“I’m fighting this. I am innocent,” Shah stated during the Season 2 reunion. “And I will fight for every person out there that can’t fight for themselves because they don’t have the resources or the means, so they don’t fight.”
Shah recently submitted multiple letters penned by family members in hopes that the judge could be persuaded to go easy on her ahead of the January 6 sentencing date.
Assistant U.S. Attorney, Kiersten A. Fletcher, countered by writing her own letter regarding the reality star’s upcoming sentencing.
“For nearly a decade, the defendant was an integral leader of a wide-ranging, nationwide telemarketing fraud scheme that victimized thousands of innocent people,” Fletcher wrote, in part.
The prosecutor noted Shah’s “post-arrest” behavior, which included marketing “Justice for Jen” merchandise.
The letter concluded—“For the reasons set forth below she should be sentenced to a term of 120 months imprisonment.”
The letter came days after Jen’s lawyer, Priya Chaudry, sought a three-year sentence for her client.
Meanwhile, many Twitter users have been treating the Utah “Housewife’s” sentencing like a tailgate event. Some are even virtually clearing schedules and grabbing popcorn in preparation for the long-awaited decision.
One fan tweeted—“In honor of Jen Shah‘s sentencing just a few days away, let’s not forget that Mary M Cosby ALWAYS had Jen’s number and didn’t back down when everyone else did!”
Another wrote—“51 hours, 25 minutes until Jen Shah’s sentencing.”
A third chimed in—“Happy Jen Shah sentencing week to all who celebrate.”
One viewer asked—“Are we pregaming the Jen shah sentencing??”
Another wanted to know—“Question: How do we learn what time Jen‘s sentencing is next week? Can we dial in on zoom or anything? I clearly have no idea what the rules are but I want to be prepared.”
One person quipped—“Me booking a flight to NYC for Jen’s sentencing next week.”
Another excited fan wrote—“Guys idk I’m so so so tempted to go to Jen shahs sentencing I wanna see them take her away in cuffs.”
A fan tweeted— “Calling into work on Friday because it’s Jen shah sentencing day and I need to mentally prepared.”
A second added—“I’m ready for this Jen Shah sentencing. I. Am. Drooling.”
