Hoda Kotb Shares Career Update After Missing From Today Show
TODAY host Hoda Kotb’s podcast show, Making Space, is returning for its third season. While Hoda is still at home for the holidays, the network announced her podcast Making Space with Hoda Kotb would return on January 9. The show will air every Monday and will feature celebrities like Wynonna Judd and Mel Robbins.
Dylan Dreyer said in his announcement, “In these brand new episodes debuting in just one week, on January 9, you’ll join Hoda for heartfelt conversations that will leave you feeling inspired.” Tuesday’s episode of TODAY will feature a trailer for season 3 of Hoda’s podcast show. However, some fans aren’t that excited about Hoda’s new show when she still hasn’t returned from her holiday break.
In a tweet talking about Making Space season 3, one fan tweeted, “Hoda needs to be at her first job instead of doing podcasts..or let someone else have her spot on the Today Show.”
TODAY fans have shared their disappointment online at Hoda and Savannah Guthrie not being back this year. For now, their spots are being filled by Sheinelle Jones and Jacob Soboroff while they spend some much-needed time with their families.
One fan tweeted in a tribute post to Barbara Walters, “I’ll bet Barbara didn’t take off as much time as Savannah and Hoda. Her interviews were always calm, professional, interesting and respectful. She never went for the ‘gotcha’ moment to get a headline.”
Another fan asked, “Lord have mercy. @TODAYshow everyone deserves time off but where are Hoda and Savannah? We’d like to see our anchors over the holidays. Enough is enough.”
Kotb has been taking some time off from social media but she updated her followers on what she’s been up to on New Year’s eve and day. Hoda posted to Instagram beautiful photos of her and her kids playing. She captioned the post, “Happy 2023. Thanks @jenniermillerjewelery for a perfect night and morning.” Fans wished Hoda a great new year on the post and asked her when she would return to the TODAY show. One person wrote, “Can’t wait for everyone to get back to work. Happy New Year everyone!”
Kotb might not be in a hurry to return to work because of her two girls, Hayley Joy, 5, and Hope Catherine, 7. She shares the girls with her ex-fiancée, Joel Schiffman.
The host said that building her life around her kids has brought her greater joy than she has ever imagined. Hoda said that before her kids, she only thought of family as her mom, dad, brother, and sister.
“I envisioned it that way until I was 50. Imagine someone saying, ‘Hey, guess what? You’re actually going to have a whole other family.’ It still surprises me! It delights me to know that I have Haley and Hope. They fell asleep on me yesterday after having meltdowns, and I sang to them, and in that moment I was just thinking to myself, ‘I get to feel these things. We get to have this together.’ It blows my mind that I get to have this adorable little family that’s just right for me.”
Joel and Hoda made the decision to separate in January 2022 and they have been co-parenting since then. The TODAY host told her followers that her kids were happy to have two Christmas celebrations after spending time with the girls, her mother, and her sister. In an interview with HELLO, Hoda revealed some of her holiday plan — “My mom and sister and the rest of the family are coming, so we will divide. We will spend some time together and then Joel will spend some time just with the girls.”
