’90 Day Fiancé’ Tiffany Franco BROKE and Struggling After Chasing Ronald In South Africa
Tiffany Franco is addressing her estranged husband, Ronald Smith’s claim that she’s refusing to sign divorce papers, after 90 Day Fiancé: The Single Life featured the mom of two writing off the relationship.
Tiffany spoke to In Touch, via a statement, to explain why the divorce has been delayed.
“Ronald told me he wanted to get it done immediately and I asked him very nicely if he could please give me a few weeks to get the money together,” Tiffany, 31, told the outlet. “I’ve been struggling a little bit financially since returning from South Africa.”
Tiffany and Ronald’s attempt to revive their broken marriage was featured during the recently concluded season of the 90 Day spinoff series. Tiffany revealed that she spent four months in South Africa with Ronald and the couple’s daughter, Carley, during the first part of the Tell-All special, which aired last month. The couple had split by the time they filmed the reunion, in September.
“I have been getting my things back on track that I neglected when I was overseas. I did ask him to just be a little bit patient with me and that once I had the money for the divorce lawyer, that I would pay it and get it done 100%!” she explained. “I am absolutely not trying to keep him married to me as I would gain absolutely nothing from it other than a headache [laughs].”
Tiffany said that Ronald initially agreed to her conditions and added that she was “completely caught off guard” when her ex alleged that she had been refusing to move forward.
“Him and I did have a conversation about him giving me a little time,” she noted.
Tiffany met Ronald through mutual friends in January 2017, while she was on a trip to South Africa. The duo got engaged after dating for six months. Season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way followed Tiffany’s short-lived move to South Africa with her son, Daniel, to marry Ronald. Tiffany became pregnant shortly after their wedding and ultimately decided to move back to the United States, to give her children a better life. Tiffany and Ronald’s on-again-off-again long-distance marriage was featured on multiple 90-Day spinoffs after they welcomed their daughter in 2019.
Ronald moved on with a new love interest during the pair’s separation, in late 2021. Meanwhile, Tiffany explored the dating world while filming Season 3 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Single Life. Tiffany and Ronald have since called it quits for good, and Tiffany believes that her ex has reconciled with his girlfriend, Lauren.
“I have no ill feelings towards him or Lauren and I wish them the absolute best,” she said. “Lauren sent him the money for him to divorce me last time back in November [2021] I think and he used that money for something else.”
Tiffany alleged that she was sent “fake” legal documents by her ex, who claimed that their divorce was a done deal.
“I later found out that those documents were falsified,” she said.
Tiffany continued—“When he had asked me to fill out the papers, I knew in my gut that if I wanted it done I needed to do it myself. So I’m not making the same mistake twice I will not fill out the ones he sent me. I’m asking him for a little time so that I can get a lawyer myself and do it on my own. That way I will know it’s done and that way he will not take more money from this poor girl.”
Ronald responded to Tiffany’s claims, telling the outlet—“Typical Tiffany, always bringing up the past. Why does she feel the need to say this? What does it matter who even paid for it? She thinks I [used] it on something else? Unless she knows and have proof, she must rather not think because it’s false. She must rather focus on now and getting divorce done now stop talking about the past because now is what matters not last year. Come on Tiffany, no bad blood, but let’s get divorce done please.”
Tiffany explained that her two top priorities are her children.
“Running my own business, supporting my two children, trying to pay for this divorce and it’s Christmas time so, of course, I will make sure my kids have a fantastic Christmas and that’s not cheap,” she explained. “It’s just tough timing but I will get it done. He just needs to understand that things are tight right now, the reason I’m annoyed because I want nothing more than for him to be happy and remarried or have a visa done for wherever he wants to go. But I hope that he understands that I’m trying my best.”
