Gwendlyn Brown Confirms Real Reason for ‘Sister Wives’ Family’s Move to Flagstaff
Sister Wives fans have long suspected that the Brown family’s move from Las Vegas, Nevada to Flagstaff, Arizona was rooted in Robyn Brown’s wish to have her son, Dayton Brown, attend college in the area. It appears that Gwendlyn Brown, daughter of Kody Brown and his ex, Christine, confirmed such in a recent Q&A session.
It didn’t take long for viewers to call out Robyn, Kody’s fourth and only legal wife, for the decision that ultimately accelerated the breakdown of the plural family.
In 2018, the family announced that they were relocating from Las Vegas to Flagstaff, in a statement to People.
“As much as we’ve loved making our home and memories here in Las Vegas, we are excited to embark on a new adventure in Flagstaff, Arizona!” the TLC clan told the outlet.
“We are looking forwards to cooler temperatures, the mountain air, scenic views and the slower lifestyle of Flagstaff.”
The TLC show documented the upheaval that followed — which included housing struggles and a gradual disconnect between the individual families. Several of the Brown children experienced difficulties after they were forced to leave their schools, friends, and personal goals behind. Robyn claimed at the time that she was concerned about the Las Vegas culture influencing the siblings. She also cited mortgage issues and Kody’s constant need to shake things up as reasons to go forward with the massive relocation.
The family’s decision came alongside the news that Robyn’s son, Dayton, had been accepted to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff — and fans took notice.
Gwendlyn recently put the matter to rest, confirming the real reason the Browns left the comfortable convenience of their Vegas cul-de-sac to rebuild in Arizona. The 21-year-old, who has been answering fan questions via her newly launched Patreon account, responded to a viewer who asked what motivated the plural family’s move.
The fan asked—“Did the family really move to Flagstaff to escape balloon payments on the mortgages or for Dayton to attend college? Those are the two most speculated reasons.”
“So the main reason I was told was that the market was kind of increasing, and it would be a good time to sell the houses and still make a profit from them,” Gwen responded. “But I feel like the choice for Flagstaff was very much college related. Yes.”
Dayton’s LinkedIn confirms that he is currently attending Northern Arizona University, where he is pursuing a triple major in marketing, information systems management, and management. The young man also boasts certificates in business analytics and business leadership.
Kody recently confirmed on the TLC show that all of Robyn’s children still live at home.
Gwen explained — “He’s [Dayton] a bit of a hermit just [because] he has so many degrees that he’s studying for, which might be why people haven’t seen or heard from him online.”
Fans know that the consequential move only fueled the breakdown of Kody’s spiritual marriage to third wife, Christine, and more recently, his relationship with second wife, Janelle. Kody and his first wife, Meri, share only a platonic relationship.
