Lala Kent Blasts Balenciaga Over ‘Horrifying’ Child P*rn Ad Campaign
Vanderpump Rules star, Lala Kent, is urging her followers not to support Balenciaga after they posted photos of kids alongside teddy bears in bondage outfits.
Balenciaga posted the photos in question on their official Instagram account. They depicted two young children holding bags made of plush bears wearing BDSM gear. On the set, in front of the models were court documents relating to child pornography laws.
Lala posted screenshots of the ads and called out the fashion brand on her Instagram Stories.
“I’m proud to not own one single piece of Balenciaga,” she said. Lala, who is a mother of one, told fans they needed to get to the bottom of what the brand intended to do to the masses with those photos.
The Vanderpump Rules star wrote, “We need to know what that document under the Balenciaga bag says. If you zoom in it SEEMS to state horrifying words. Ya’ll we need to do better. Reject the darkness, find the light.”
Lala went on to say that the well-being of the world and its innocent beings depend on it. Balenciaga apologized on Tuesday and removed the campaign from all platforms. They apologized for featuring children and displaying unsettling documents in the holiday ad set for the brand’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection.
In their statement, Balenciaga said they stingingly condemn child abuse in any form. The company further stated that executives are “taking legal action against the parties responsible for creating the set and including unapproved items.”
Lala also took issue with this statement and tagged the brand, “@balenciaga – YOU ARE THE PART RESPONSIBLE.”
She added, “A lot of these brands are used to us being sheep. ‘They’re stupid, they’ll never notice,’” the reality star added. “Guess what — we notice & we aren’t shutting up. We must protect these kids.”
Since the backlash, the campaign’s photographer, Gabriele Galimberti has come out to defend himself after receiving “hundreds of hate mails and messages.”
Gabriele said on his Instagram that the direction of the photo shoot and the objects displayed were not within his control. “I am not in a position to comment [on] Balenciaga’s choices, but I must stress that I was not entitled in whatsoever manner to neither choose the products, nor the models, nor the combination of the same.”
The photographer claimed he had no connection to the photo when the supreme court documents appeared. “That one was taken in another set by other people and was falsely associated with my photo,” he said.
