Todd and Julie Chrisley’s Reality Shows Not Over Yet Despite Lengthy Prison Sentences
Todd and Julie Chrisley’s reality TV empire is hanging by a thread as the couple prepares for life behind bars, but fans might get to watch the popular family one last time.
NBCUniversal has not yet announced an official decision about Chrisley Knows Best, but an insider admitted that it would be difficult to keep the Chrisley children’s spinoff show, Growing Up Chrisley, and Todd’s new dating series, Love Limbo, up and running now that Todd and Julie have been sentenced.
“The network has some episodes of Season 10 of Chrisley Knows Best that were shot prior to the trial,” a source told RadarOnline.
The insider added that the episodes will “air next year.”
Season 4 of Savannah and Chase’s spin-off show reportedly did not go into production after it was announced that E! planned to pick up the series. Todd’s dating show, Love Limbo, never went into production.
The outlet reported in June that production for Chrisley Knows Best had been shut down. The show was not in production as Todd and Julie learned their fate, on Monday.
The reality TV couple was found guilty by a federal jury in June on charges of criminal bank fraud and tax evasion. Prosecutors said that the Chrisleys took out $30 million in fraudulent bank loans to fund their lavish lifestyle, even before they shot to stardom as reality stars.
Prosecutors said that the duo hid income within a film production company, to prevent the IRS from collecting unpaid taxes owed by Todd Chrisley. The famous couple denied all wrongdoing throughout the legal ordeal and claimed that they did not control their finances.
On Monday, a federal judge sentenced Todd Chrisley to 12 years in prison plus 16 months probation. Julie was sentenced to 7 years in prison, plus 16 months probation.
“The seriousness of the Chrisleys’ crimes cannot be understated. After they defrauded community banks out of tens of millions of dollars, they hid millions of dollars from the IRS, all while going on television to boast about how much they spend on designer clothes,” prosecutors wrote in the sentencing memorandum. “And when they learned that they were under investigation for those crimes, they involved their own family members and friends to obstruct justice.”
Julie reportedly tried to dodge her sentence, alleging that her adopted daughter, Chloe, had become suicidal after hearing the verdict and the lengthy sentence.
“To hear your 10-year-old say she doesn’t want to live if their mom goes away, no child should feel that way,” Julie told the judge, who did not waver.
Todd and Julie are scheduled to check into prison on January 1, 2023.
