‘Sister Wives’ Brown Family Stands Divided During Christine’s Final Farewell
The Brown family stood divided during their final hours with Christine Brown before the Sister Wives star left Arizona in the dust. Christine hosts a farewell gathering at her Flagstaff home before she heads to Salt Lake City in a preview look at Sunday’s episode.
The vibe of the family gathering is gloomy, as Kody Brown’s petulant mood sets the tone for the uncomfortable family farewell.
Christine announced that she was ending her spiritual marriage after 26 years, in November 2021.
“There is such a strike to all my feelings and all the work that I’ve done for our family to come here to sort of have this family gathering and say goodbye that is way off course for me. Way off the charts,” Kody says in a confessional spot. “It’s not even right. It feels so demeaning.”
Kody and Christine’s daughter, Mykelti, 26, shares that she wants “to affirm that the family is still a family” despite her mother’s decision, but Kody is not on board.
“I’m in sort of this weird place where I’m like thinking I don’t want to see Christine ever again,” Kody says. “I don’t want to think about her. I don’t want to drive past this house ever again and mourn this.”
He continues— “I don’t want to sit and be in this place again. I don’t want to deal with this at all.”
Various members of the large TLC clan also speak out about Christine’s exit.
“It’s awkward outside. It’s weird. It’s intense. Nobody really wants to be here,” Mykelti says. “Dad doesn’t want to be here, Robyn doesn’t want to be here, mom doesn’t want to be here. It’s weird. It’s intense and it’s uncomfortable.”
Kody’s first wife, Meri, 51, who was at her family’s Utah bed and breakfast at the time, admits that the occasion may not have gone smoothly if she had been present.
“I don’t know how weird it would have been if I was [there] knowing that she really wasn’t interested in having a relationship with me,” Meri says. “So, why be there and do some big goodbye?”
Kody’s second son with second wife, Janelle, Gabriel Brown, shares that while he doesn’t feel “really sad” about the breakup, he is “really sad” that Christine is leaving Arizona.
“I’m not gonna, like, sit here and blame her for doing it,” the 21-year-old admits. ”If I was in her shoes, I would do the same.”
Christine recently announced that she had opened her Salt Lake City home to TLC cameras.
“I’m finally filming in my house in Salt Lake!!” Christine wrote on Instagram Tuesday. “So excited! #sisterwives #filming” and “#newbeginnings”
Fans cheered her alongside the announcement, with one user writing—“When I tell you I am so proud of this woman! I feel like she is showing women, hey you can start over and you don’t have to be unhappy for someone else to be happy.”
Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 pm ET on TLC.
