‘Sister Wives’ Star Christine Brown Pushed Janelle Brown to Leave Kody

Christine Brown was the person who pushed Kody Brown’s second wife, Janelle, to walk away from her spiritual marriage, The Sun reports.

A source told the outlet that the Kody’s ex was “100 percent” the person who “forced” Janelle to leave the Sister Wives patriarch. 

“Janelle had no real reason to leave until Christine pointed it out to her,” the insider claimed.

Christine, 50, and Kody, 53, announced their breakup in November 2021. The ex-couple’s 21-year-old daughter, Gwendlyn, gave an update on her mother one year later, during a recent appearance on a pal’s TikTok  Livestream.

“Absolutely yes. She’s thriving so hard… Her life is so good right now. I’m so proud of her,” Gwen responded when asked if her mother was happy.

Gwen replied “Yes, I think,” when asked if only Meri and Robyn remained in the plural marriage.

The source clarified that Kody and Janelle’s split began “a year or two years ago during COVID.”

“COVID created a lot of [the separation]. It gave the sister wives comfort to know that they could be on their own. Christine was the ringleader in showing that they don’t need Kody,” the insider said.

“With all certainty, the final straw was in May or June,” the tipster added. “It was in the beginning of summer where it’s been completely dissolved between Janelle and Kody.” 

The snitch dished—“She’s no longer claiming to be his wife. She does not believe she’s part of the equation of marriage with Kody anymore. It’s done, it’s over.”

The insider explained that while Janelle had no previous intention of leaving her spiritual marriage, the COVID pandemic proved to be a game changer. 

“When your kids lose a relationship with a parent, you have to pick and choose. Her support system is not Kody, it will always be her kids,” the source said.

The insider added—“So I do believe that’s the main reason  [for the split]. It came down to supporting her kids. Her kids had a lot to do with it. Her kids are really close to Christine and she helped raise the kids.”

Meanwhile, Janelle and Christine have remained loyal friends. The duo recently attended a retreat together, and TLC continues to highlight Janelle supporting Christine’s decision, amid the messy breakup.  

“They have joined forces in supporting each other,” the source confirmed.

“This is a hard-core power trip,” the insider said. “It’s antagonizing to Kody and he absolutely hates it. They’re doing everything they can to go against Kody.”

Fans have wondered for years why Kody’s first wife, Meri, who shares only a platonic relationship with the TLC star, continues in the loveless marriage.

“Meri will never admit this but she has a contract to fulfill and that’s the only reason why she still shows up,” the source alleged. “She’s been sticking around for the contract. That’s where her paychecks are coming from. She’s not sitting around waiting for Kody nor will she ever.”
