90 Day Fiancé’s Jenny Slatten Frets Over Sumit’s Return to Work — Pushes a Move to America!
Jenny Slatten has reached her limit on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, but fans were left scratching their heads after Sunday’s episode.
Fans watched Jenny, 63, and Sumit Singh, 33, clash over how to pass the days in India, amid a debate over potentially moving to America. Sumit was featured going back to work in his friend’s reopened cafe after the business was shut down by the COVID pandemic for two years.
Sumit cited a desire to earn an income as a chef, telling cameras that he wasn’t ready for a slow-paced lifestyle.
“We came back from our honeymoon a few days ago,” he said. “I’m not interested at all in living a retired lifestyle like Jenny. She feels like she’s getting social security and that’s good enough money for her. But I want to do more.”
He later told his wife that he was excited to get back to work so he could “do what I wanna do.”
“Do what you wanna do? Why, you don’t like spending time here with me?” Jenny asked.
Sumit clarified the importance of “working and making money,” later explaining in a personal interview that he hoped to “make more money so we can live a good life here in India and forget about going to America.”
Jenny asked Sumit to consider another career field, preferably one that didn’t require a six-day workweek.
Jenny told cameras — “But I don’t want him to be so bored with me that he wants to leave me now. But what can I do? I can’t make him stay home with me all day, even if he wanted to.”
Jenny spoke out about her experience living in India after Sumit encouraged her to tackle grocery shopping alone.
“Even though I’ve lived here for three years, it’s intimidating for me as a white woman to be out by myself, trying to go to the market, being stared at a lot,” she said. “I hope Sumit doesn’t expect me to do this every day, because I can’t do that.”
Jenny nervously navigated the shopping excursion but admitted that she’d rather be in the United States.
“When I gave up everything to be with Sumit in India, I thought he would be my side,” she said.
Jenny added—“Honestly, if this is what Sumit wants our lives to be like I’d rather be home in America with friends and family where I’m comfortable. I would definitely feel less helpless.”
Cameras followed Sumit to his first day back at work, where he discussed the issue with his friend, Rohit. He dropped a bomb when he admitted that he might want kids one day, via a surrogate or adoption.
“I’m not sure whether Jenny wants to have kids or not,” Sumit acknowledged. “Because we didn’t have any conversation regarding this ever.”
Jenny later expressed concern over Sumit’s changing desires, noting that such shifts magnified their 30-year age difference.
“Since we got married Sumit’s interested in different things,” Jenny said in a personal interview. “He wants to go to work, he wants to take sex karma sutra classes, now he wants to hang out with his friends and party. I mean, what’s next?”
Fans weighed in on social media about the couple’s disagreement as the episode aired.
One viewer quipped on Twitter—“Jenny is the first woman that I’ve ever heard of that doesn’t want their man to work.”
Another tweeted—“Does Jenny have control issues, a little? She expects Sumit to be stuck to her hip 24/7. That would drain anybody, and she’s so boring. She doesn’t do anything, she’s lazy and controlling now.”
One fan said—“I think people forget that Jenny has been in India for 3 years. She’s hasn’t made any friends, learned any of the language, barely knows the customs and hasn’t built any life away from Sumit. She needs to step it up.”
Another asked—“Jenny… Are you mentally challenged?? Sumit was 30 when you decided to move to his country to be with him… Did you really expect him to be retired and sit in the living room sipping coffee with you everyday??”
