Why ‘Sister Wives’ Star Kody Brown Is Absent From Daughter Truely’s Life!
Kody Brown and his ex-spiritual wife, Christine Brown, discussed how they planned to co-parent their 12-year-old daughter, Truely, ahead of Christine’s move to Utah, on Sunday’s episode of Sister Wives.
A source has come forward to back Christine and offer more details on the distant relationship between Kody and his daughter.
“Basically, he’s not in Truely’s life,” the insider told In Touch. “Kody won’t go anywhere. Christine has to accommodate Kody. He’s still paranoid about COVID and everything else. So, if Christine is not choosing to do the transporting and making it happen — nor would she put Truely through any of this stress — then Kody won’t have a relationship with Truely. He would have to leave his nest to see his daughter.”
The exes tried to hash out the logistics of their impending split and addressed how to navigate a co-parenting relationship, during Sunday’s episode.
The TLC patriarch spoke out about the complicated custody situation and asserted his role as the pre-teen’s father.
“I’m disgusted by this idea that she’s moving, and she’s gonna take Truely and move to Utah,” he told the cameras. “Truely’s my child.”
The father of 18 also commented—“I’m not going to sit here and have her do this without objecting to it and saying we have to work something for custody. I don’t know what that looks like, this discussion hasn’t happened.”
Christine, 50, explained that Kody, 53, had not been present in their lives since moving to Flagstaff, Arizona.
“Hell, he could have had 50/50 time with us the whole time we lived here!” Christine said. “Let’s just say we’ve lived [in Flagstaff] for 800 days. He went hiking with us once. He’s been kayaking with us twice, one time he didn’t even get in the water. That’s three times he’s gone with us. Three out of 800.”
“I think Truely is going to be fine. She’ll miss everyone, of course, and it’s going to be hard, and taking her from Kody is hard,” Christine said. “It’s hard. Don’t get me wrong.”
Kody and Christine announced that they were calling it quits in November 2021, after a 25-year spiritual marriage. They share six children—son Paedon, 23, and daughters Aspyn, 27, Mykelti, 26, Gwendlyn, 20, Ysabel, 19, and Truely, 12.
Christine told viewers that Kody had not expressed any real interest in spending time with his daughter—until now.
I find it ironic that now he wants to be involved my kids’ lives now that I’m leaving. Now he wants 50/50 time with them,” Christine said. “Well hell, he could have had 50/50 time with us this whole f—ing time we lived here. If he wanted 50/50 he should have been around more. He doesn’t get 50/50. He hasn’t been around enough for that.”
Sister Wives airs on Sundays at 10 pm, ET, on TLC.
