Wendy Williams’ Health in Decline — Former Chat Show Host ‘Can’t Stop Drinking!’
Wendy Williams’ health is on the decline amid an alleged struggle with alcohol abuse, sources tell The U.S. Sun. An insider told the outlet of the former daytime chat show host—”Wendy can’t stop drinking, she just can’t.”
Wendy’s seeming issues with alcohol have made headlines twice in the last month.
The source said that the former Wendy Williams Show host “lives like she thinks she’s a baddy, she’s always felt that way but her body isn’t saying that nowadays.”
Another person close to Wendy expressed a belief that the host’s “health is failing” as a result of her continued issues with alcohol.
“She can’t stop drinking and she needs to stop drinking; it’s just making her health worse,” the second insider added.
Last month, “Gossip of the City” posted pics of Wendy publicly passed out in a New York City storefront window, alongside a full champagne glass. Two weeks later, she was snapped appearing confused and disheveled during an evening run for cigarettes and booze.
The images revealed the 58-year-old leaving her New York City apartment wearing a crop top and short shorts. Wendy reportedly hopped into a cab around 8 p.m. after leaving her penthouse. The former daytime host visited a local smoke shop before heading to a liquor store where the driver reportedly picked up a bottle of Ketel One vodka.
Earlier the same day, Wendy stepped out with her bodyguard and appeared unsteady on her feet. The former TV queen was seen wearing a black slip-style dress topped with a shirt and sneakers. She clung to her bodyguard as she spoke to reporters.
Wendy previously claimed that she planned to launch a podcast after the cancellation of her popular talk show. It remains unclear if she has taped any episodes of her new project.
Production Company, Debmar-Mercury, announced the official cancellation of Wendy’s talk show, in June. Wendy was absent for her show’s final season, amid multiple health issues.
Fans know that several guest hosts were recruited to fill in for the ailing host ahead of her final exit. The Wendy Williams Show aired its final episode on June 17. Sherri Shepherd was given a new show to fill Wendy’s time slot.
Sherri not only bumped Wendy out of her time slot but scored the former daytime diva’s entire production team, including David Perler, Wendy’s longtime producer, and showrunner. Sherri will also take over Wendy’s popular “Hot Topics” segment.
Sources previously told the outlet that Wendy had been asking her famous friends to reject invitations to appear on Sherri’s new show.
“Wendy has been calling her friends and saying don’t go on the Sherri show and don’t promote it,” a source told the outlet.
“She is calling all her favorite Real Housewives friends, too. The thing is, Wendy thinks she has this loyalty, but at the end of the day, no one is going to turn Sherri down,” the snitch added.
