Wendy Williams ‘Heartbroken’ Over Oprah Winfrey Offering Advice to Replacement Sherri Shepherd!
Former chat show host, Wendy Williams, is crushed that talk show giant, Oprah Winfrey, offered personal advice to her replacement, Sherri Shepherd.
“Wendy couldn’t get a Real Housewife to help her when she started her show and here is Oprah reaching out to Sherri, who stabbed Wendy in the back. No wonder Wendy is heartbroken,” Radar Online reports.
The show announced that Sherri would be replacing Wendy, who sat out the final season amid multiple health issues, in February.
Sherri revealed during a prep session for the show’s September launch that Oprah had called her to share advice.
“It feels like the whole world is against Wendy,” insiders told the outlet. “Wendy had to beg reality stars to appear on her show and here is Sherri getting calls out of the blue from Oprah. If Oprah turns up on Sherri’s show as a guest, in Wendy’s old studio, Wendy will explode.”’
Sources previously told the U.S. Sun that Wendy had been asking her famous friends to reject invitations to appear on Sherri’s new show.
“Wendy has been calling her friends and saying don’t go on the Sherri show and don’t promote it,” a source told the outlet.
“She is calling all her favorite Real Housewives friends, too. The thing is, Wendy thinks she has this loyalty, but at the end of the day, no one is going to turn Sherri down,” the snitch added.
“Here’s Wendy calling Nick Cannon and a bunch of D-listers from Bravo, and Sherri is taking calls from Oprah,” a source told Radar. “Wendy has a public breakdown and lost her show and Oprah, or no one else for that matter, called Wendy.”
“I took 15 pages of notes until my fingers cramped up,” Sherri said about her call with Oprah. She added that she had texted the talk show legend “two or three times” before receiving the phone call.
Sherri shared—“One thing I took from Oprah is, she said, ‘Sherri, the show, is not about the ratings, it’s about the energy. You put out the energy, and it will come back in direct proportion to you from the audience. It’s your responsibility. You’re in charge of the energy that is on your show.’”
Fans know that several guest hosts were recruited to fill in for Wendy, ahead of her exit. The Wendy Williams Show aired its final episode on June 17.
The show later announced that they would be disposing of Wendy’s purple chair and other studio memorabilia to make space for the new series. All About The Tea reported that Wendy returned to the studio to rescue her wigs and the purple chair. Wendy’s new manager, Will Selby, confirmed that they picked up all of the host’s belongings before they were sold on eBay.
Sherri not only bumped Wendy out of her time slot but scored the former daytime diva’s entire production team, including David Perler, Wendy’s longtime producer, and showrunner. Sherri will also take over Wendy’s popular “Hot Topics” segment.
