Sister Wives’ Christine Brown Speaks On New ‘Happier’ Life After Leaving Polygamy!
Christine Brown has never been happier almost a year after leaving her plural marriage and her fundamentalist Mormon faith. The Sister Wives star was spiritually married to Kody Brown for 26 years before walking away from the relationship.
“I get to live life for me,” Christine said in the latest issue of PEOPLE. “My whole world has changed, and every single cell in my body is happier.”
Christine announced the couple’s split on Instagram last November. Viewers will see the plural family rocked in the wake of Christine’s decision on the upcoming season of the TLC show. Christine, Kody’s third wife, previously shared her life alongside three sister wives, Meri, Janelle, and Robyn Brown, in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Kody and Christine tied the spiritual knot in 1994, and share six children, Aspyn, 27, Mykelti, 26, Paedon, 24, Gwendlyn, 20, Ysabel, 19, and Truely, 12.
Christine told the mag that she began to feel a shift in 2018, despite her past desire for a plural lifestyle.
“I started thinking maybe this isn’t working for me,” she revealed. “And then I stopped believing in polygamy. I realized I didn’t really want to live it anymore. I didn’t like sharing a husband or feeling like I wasn’t important.”
After years of unhappiness, the 50-year-old packed her bags and headed back to Utah with her daughter, Truely.
“We got here and that night when I went to bed, I realized I was home,” she shared. “It was just like that. And I got to start over again and it was exciting and it was new and so scary because I had no idea what to expect, but I was so excited. I remember feeling hope for the first time in a long time because I just got to take my life by my own and go. It was wonderful.”
Christine continues to co-parent with Kody, 53, who still sees his daughter on a regular basis.
“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve opened up Truely’s door and been like, ‘What should we do for fun today?’ And so we just pick a destination and we go and we just have fun and we just go and explore,” she shared. “I mean, it’s just absolutely amazing.”
Christine added—”And now that I live here, there’s so many things to do and I just want to do it all.”
Christine launched her online TLC cooking series, “Cooking with Just Christine,” in February. Season 2 of the digital series premieres on September 11.
Christine confirmed that she would like to find someone special in the future.
“I would love to date,” the reality star confirmed. “Love the idea of the end having a romantic partner. But I talked to Truely about it the other day and she’s like, ‘Mom, I really like our life how it is now.’ Down the road. I’m just going to let fate take care of that one.”
“I want a guy who actually loves me and wants to be with me intimately,” she added. “I will be a monogamist from here on out.”
Christine said she’s currently focused on her kids and on living a joy-filled life.
“I just want to be an example to my kids more than anything. I always told them, ‘Do what’s going to make you happy,’ I have to do the same.”
Season 17 of Sister Wives premieres September 11 at 10 pm ET on TLC.
