Meredith Marks Has Not Spoken To Jen Shah Since Her Guilty Plea & Doesn’t Want The Fraudster On ‘RHOSLC!’
Meredith Marks is finally opening up about Jen Shah’s guilty plea and how much contact she has had with the Bravo star since.
Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star, Meredith Marks, says that she was surprised as everyone else when Jen pleaded guilty in her wire fraud case. While on the No Filter with Zack Potter podcast, she said, “Obviously I’m surprised. I think probably everybody’s surprised. I don’t think anyone was expecting that!” Marks, 50, had met up with Jen Shah and Heather Gay at New York City’s High Line attraction just days before she took her guilty plea in the conspiracy to commit wire fraud case. Before then, Jen had maintained her innocence after she was taken into custody in March 2021.
Since her co-star’s guilty plea, Meredith said that she hasn’t had so much contact with Jen, 48. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star said during the podcast, “We’ve texted a little, but I have not had any conversations with her.” She continued, “I’ve been out of the country and she’s now been getting her oldest son settled at medical school and so I have not actually talked to her.”
Marks also defended her decision to remain friends with Jen before she pleaded guilty and said that she believed Jen was innocent at the time. “Honestly, I had a post on my Instagram feed, a photo with me and Heather and Jen in it and there were a lot of really vicious comments, calling Jen a criminal and all these things,” she recalled.
Marks added, “That may be the case if you want to say that now, but when someone hasn’t pleaded guilty and they haven’t had a trial, it’s not up to me or anybody other than the jury in that case — because it was slated to be a jury trial — to make that determination.” Meredith Marks also said that she doesn’t think Jen’s decision to stay on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is a wise one.
“Whether you are guilty or not, it is so easy to say something that could be spun to incriminate you. And I just think it’s kind of scary. I mean, I think it’s really gutsy that she stayed on. I do. I don’t think I could under those circumstances.” A source told People that Bravo doesn’t want to stop following Jen’s story even after she pleaded guilty.
