‘The Family Chantel’ Star Chantel Tries To Bribe Pedro’s Mother With Gucci To Save Her Marriage!

Chantel Everett made a last-ditch effort to save her marriage to Pedro Jimeno during Monday’s episode of The Family Chantel, by visiting his mother, Lidia, in the Dominican Republic. Chantel, who shares a contentious past relationship with her mother-in-law, opened up to Lidia about Pedro shutting down amid their mounting marital issues. 

Pedro Jimeno made the first move toward a divorce from Chantel during last week’s episode, telling his wife that he wanted a separation.

The currently airing season of the TLC show has been documenting the breakdown of the couple’s marriage. Their relationship crumbled after Pedro pursued a career in real estate and chose to spend his free time with his colleagues, ignoring his wife.  

“What kind of response were you thinking?” Chantel asked Pedro, during last week’s episode. “‘I’m glad we’re getting a separation, this is going to really help our relationship?’ I don’t know anyone who’s separated and gotten back together, baby, I don’t. How is separating going to help us? It’s ignoring the problem and drifting further apart.” 

Chantel opened up to Pedro’s mother about her rocky marriage during Monday’s episode, with surprising results.  

Lidia encouraged Chantel to continue communication with her son, but seemingly took her daughter-in-law’s side when she explained that Pedro had refused to open up about his problems within the relationship. Lidia suggested that a baby might rescue the marriage but Chantel shut down the idea, noting Pedro’s wish to put off having a family.

“Although I do want to have children, I don’t think that would help anything right now,” Chantel said in a confessional spot. “I don’t want to have a child and raise them by myself because I took it upon myself to get pregnant with a man who didn’t want to be a father. That’s what I don’t want to do.”

Lidia confirmed her wish that the couple stay together after Chantel gifted her with a pair of designer sunglasses. She had advised her son to leave his wife only a couple of weeks earlier, in response to Pedro’s complaints about his marriage. 

“The problem here is Chantel,” she told her son during a FaceTime call. “She is jealous. Leave her on the sidelines.”

Lidia explained that she had experienced a change of heart after hearing Chantel’s side of the story, in person.

“I advised him to get separated,” she admitted. “But seeing Chantel at my door today, wanting to have a relationship with my family, I decided to support her. I see that she made the decision to fix her marriage.”

The popular 90 Day Fiancé alums made the decision to split, in May. Pedro filed for divorce on May 26 but claimed that they had been separated since April 27. The TLC star said that their marriage had become “irretrievably broken.” Chantel stated in subsequent court documents that she was ending the marriage for reasons that included adultery and “physical domestic violence, as well as mental pain.”

Court documents revealed that a mutual restraining order was filed on the same day that Pedro filed for divorce. 

The Family Chantel airs Mondays at 8 pm, ET, on TLC.
