Twitter Drags Kyle Richards For Not Calling Out Erika Jayne’s Alcohol Abuse While Outing Sister Kim’s Alcoholism!
Kyle Richards has been hit by backlash for looking the other way in the face of Erika Jayne’s drunken behavior. Fans will remember that the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star outed her sister, Kim Richards’ alcoholism during Season 1, but has been curiously casual about Erika’s boozy antics.
Several of the women have expressed concern about Erika this season, especially after she revealed that she’d been mixing alcohol with Lexapro, Wellbutrin, and “other things.”
Lisa Rinna, Kyle Richards, and Garcelle Beauvais were visibly disturbed by Erika’s behavior at Diana Jenkins’ ritzy holiday party, featured on Wednesday’s episode, especially after their co-star interrupted Diana’s fiancé’s solo singing performance.
“I think Erika probably misses the spotlight,” Garcelle said in a confessional spot. ”She won’t shut up. It’s awkward.”
Erika slurred excuses for not attending Paris Hilton’s wedding event to the bride’s mother, Kathy Hilton, in a separate scene.
“You invited me to a lot of events. And the truth is, I didn’t want to bring my scorn and my f—ing scarlet letter on to your daughters and on to you,” Erika said, before breaking down in tears. “I didn’t want to bring that f—ing shame.”
“It’s getting out of control,” Kathy responded when asked about her interaction with Erika.
Garcelle challenged her co-stars to get real with Erika about her issues with alcohol, but Kyle was resistant.
“I think I’m ultra-sensitive to, if someone says this person’s drinking too much, honestly, because of our sister, Kim,” Kyle said.
She added in a personal interview—“It’s very dangerous to throw around labels like that, like a drinking problem. And Garcelle wants me to say that she’s baiting me. So, I’m not doing that.”
Crystal Kung Minkoff disagreed with Kyle in her own confessional, commenting—”I think Kyle’s idea of being a loyal friend is 100% backing the person. I actually disagree on that. When I’m doing something wrong, I expect my good friends to call me out, not just back me blindly.”
Rinna confronted Erika the following day, calling her behavior “out of control.” Erika agreed, admitting that the truth was hard to accept.
Fans took to Twitter as the drama unfolded and blasted Kyle’s glaring double standard.
One fan tweeted—“Kyle saying it’s dangerous to label someone an alcoholic when she called her own sister an alcoholic???”
Another viewer pointed out—“So Kyle steals a house from her sister and outs her as an alcoholic to the world but says Erika needs understanding as she gets shit faced and hurts people.”
A third user wrote—“Erika is just loosening up, hey? It’s so nice that you are willing to cut her some slack. Especially, since you bullied and outed your own sister on national television as an alcoholic. Another point goes to Kyle.”
One fan quipped—“I love how Kyle forgets that she told the entire world that her sister was an alcoholic.”
Another user tweeted—“Kyle laid into Kim and called her an alcoholic but somehow Garcelle is wrong for pointing out that Erika has been drunk at every event.”
A viewer added—“Why does Kyle keep beating that dead horse about Erika letting her hair down when wasted? She called Kim an alcoholic when I had no idea Kim had a problem. Yet Erika gets every benefit of the doubt and then extra understanding to boot. Make it make sense.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Wednesdays at 8 pm, ET, on Bravo.
