‘Mama June: Road to Redemption’ Sugar Bear Signs Over Custody of Alana To Pumpkin!

A recent episode of Mama June: Road To Redemption showed Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson struggling to sign away his parental rights to Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson.

In a Mama June: Road To Redemption clip, ‘Sugar Bear’ is having to make a very tough decision. It all began when Joshua Efird went to meet up with Sugar Bear and have him sign the legal documents that would put Alana in his and Pumpkin’s care. Joshua tells him, “If the only thing that you’ve been interested in is the best interest for Alana then we have to sign some papers.” Joshua continued, “This is, like, for us to gain sole custody of Alana from [Mama] June.”

Joshua clarified in the scene that he isn’t coming at Mike with a dagger or any bad intentions, instead, he just wants to be able to take care of Lauryn’s sister. He said that also includes paying for Alana’s medical bills and college. In a confessional Efird explained, “As a father, I could never, ever, ever imagine having to sign my rights away to my child, especially to another person. But, in this case, he knows that she’s safe where she’s at. He also knows that Alana would much rather live with us.”

Sugar Bear, on the other hand, admitted that he was having a hard time signing the legal documents. He admitted that it felt like he was basically signing Alana out of his life. Mike wiped away tears as he said, “Right now, she’s the only thing I got.” Honey Boo Boo spoke about her relationship with her father and said, “My dad has always been the one to just get emotional over things that like — like me and stuff — but it’s not like a real emotion,” she said. “It’s all just an act. He just wants folks to feel bad for him.”

Alana, 16, continued to say, “He definitely does try and blow up my phone constantly and constantly and constantly, but I never text back just due to the fact of, like, now you’ve waited this long to just be in my life? Like, I’m gonna be 17 and you’ve waited this long to even try.” Honey Boo Boo recently reacted to fans’ backlash over her relationship with Dralin Carswell, 21. She said, “I don’t care. Because, like, at the end of the day, my sister approves, his mom approves, and we’re happy, so what fans got to say or what haters got to say I don’t really care.”
