Porsha Williams Says She’s Got 16 Residency Offers After Ex Simon Guobadia Yanked Her Nigerian Residency Sponsorship!
Porsha Williams isn’t losing any sleep over her ex-husband Simon Guobadia’s latest legal move.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Simon recently filed an affidavit in Nigeria’s High Court of Justice to withdraw his sponsorship of Porsha’s residency permit. He claimed that because the couple divorced in 2024, she should no longer be traveling on documents obtained during their marriage.
“It was brought to my attention by the Nigerian Government that she traveled to Nigeria in December 2024 using a document that had been issued to her during our marriage. I was advised that, given our legal divorce, I have a duty to withdraw the sponsorship,” Simon explained.
He also admitted he was “disappointed” that Porsha attended Lagos’ “Detty December” celebrations last year after their split. “As I stated in my recent Instagram Stories, she will not be welcomed back to Nigeria for the same celebrations this year — and this action is my way of honoring that promise,” Simon added.
But Porsha is making it clear she doesn’t need his backing to set foot in Nigeria — or anywhere else. “I’m an American, silly Simone, I can go where I want. Hbu?” she clapped back in a post on her Instagram Story. She even teased that she has “16 offers for a Nigerian passport/sponsors and counting!” joking with followers, “Tha Lord has blessed us. Who all wanna go? Detty December here we come.”
Porsha has also thrown shade at Simon in recent weeks. Just two weeks ago, she quipped online, “When the attorneys have your landscaper’s money lol. Today’s life exercise is cleaning my pool area. Update: I found leaf blower!” More recently, she captioned a glam selfie, “Just a girl in her own little world 💋” with an American flag emoji as her location tag.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta star filed for divorce in February 2024. Sources told PEOPLE at the time that she felt “betrayed” after uncovering “complex” issues with Simon’s legal and immigration status.
“She realized the man she thought she knew was not the person he presented,” the insider said, noting that communication broke down following a “bad argument” on Valentine’s Day.
Simon, meanwhile, claimed he was blindsided and insisted the split was financially motivated. He suggested Porsha targeted him for money and said he felt “set up.” Porsha, however, insisted her decision was about protecting herself and her assets. Having learned from her first marriage, she ensured there was a prenuptial agreement in place and described the divorce as a “cold” but necessary process.
While Simon focuses on fighting her residency status abroad, Porsha is back in Atlanta, busy filming the new season of RHOA and enjoying her post-divorce life. She seems to have “zero interest” in returning to Nigeria anytime soon — and if she ever did, she could easily apply for her own paperwork.
