Tamra Judge Admits Mixing Xanax With Alcohol While Filming RHOC!
Tamra Judge is pulling back the curtain on one of her darkest moments on The Real Housewives of Orange County.
In a series of Instagram Stories on Friday, the 57-year-old reality star reflected on the fallout of her temporary departure from the show, admitting she was mixing Xanax with alcohol at the time while under immense personal strain.
“Thank you for all the kind words you’ve sent (like this). I have NOT watched the episode. It was a painful time I don’t want to relive,” Tamra wrote on August 15, reposting a heartfelt fan message. The fan’s note read in part: “I love watching you and completely love what you bring. But tonight I was broken hearted for you… To see you and feel like no one fully had your back (maybe Heather) or even just a heart for the time you were living. It was heartbreaking.”
At the time, Tamra was grappling with intense therapy sessions and the devastating news of best friend Teddi Mellencamp’s brain cancer diagnosis. She admitted it all became too much. “Emotionally I hit a wall with everything I was dealing with … I was taking Xanax to deal with the pain [and] mixed it with alcohol,” she confessed.
“Thank you [Heather Dubrow] [and] I’m sorry [for] the way I responded to you. I love you very much.”
Her breakdown unfolded after a tense trip to New Orleans, where clashes with Gina Kirschenheiter and Heather Dubrow reached boiling point. Tamra stunned fans when she appeared to quit the show on the spot, writing on March 9: “It was a long run! When life gives you real problems this reality sh*t doesn’t makes sense. Peace out … I’m out.”
Though Tamra later returned to the franchise, she’s now admitting just how much pain she was in behind the cameras.
“I was not myself,” she said, thanking fans for their empathy and apologizing again to Heather for her behavior.
One thing’s clear: even for a seasoned Housewife like Tamra Judge, sometimes the drama behind the scenes cuts far deeper than what Bravo cameras can capture.
