Simon Guobadia Claims Porsha Williams Targeted Him for His Money and He Regrets The Marriage!
Simon Guobadia, the Nigerian-born businessman and ex-husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, is opening up about his feelings following their brief and turbulent marriage.
In an exclusive interview with Page Six, Guobadia, 61, admits that he “absolutely regrets” marrying Williams, 44, and claims he was “targeted for financial reasons” during their 14-month marriage.
Simon Guobadia Feels “Blindsided” by Divorce Filing
Guobadia, who was married to Williams from 2022 until their divorce was finalized in February 2024, says he was left in the dark about the reasons for the breakup. “I kept asking, ‘Why did you file for a divorce?’ And she wouldn’t say anything,” Guobadia shared, expressing frustration over his inability to reach out to her family.
“This felt like a coup,” he continued. “I was totally blindsided,” a sentiment Williams had predicted he would feel before the divorce. Guobadia’s distress led him to send a pointed text to Williams, stating, “This was a $5 million rehab project that I took on.”
Williams’ Decision to Divorce and Her Concerns Over Guobadia’s Legal Issues
The separation became official in February 2024, following a series of confrontations, including a tense altercation on Valentine’s Day. Williams had previously revealed that she hired an immigration attorney in January 2024, after discovering what she described as “complex” issues with Guobadia’s legal status. This, she claimed, contributed to her belief that the relationship was “headed down a dark road.”
Guobadia, however, insists that he was never given the opportunity to discuss issues with Williams before she filed for divorce. “She never shared her concerns or issues with me before filing for divorce,” he said. “If you’re married … you discuss issues and say, ‘Hey, if this does not change or something does not happen, this is what might come of it.'”
Guobadia Says He Was Targeted for Financial Gain
Throughout the interview, Simon maintained that he was exploited financially throughout the marriage. “I think I was targeted. I was targeted from day one for financial reasons,” Guobadia asserted, explaining how Williams reached out to him following his divorce from his previous wife, RHOA cast member Falynn Guobadia. He described being in a vulnerable state at the time and said he was “entertaining” Williams’ advances.
Reflecting on their whirlwind engagement and marriage, Guobadia admitted, “Getting engaged in 30 days … who does that? I was out of my goddamn mind to have done that. Of course, I’m paying dearly for it.”
Legal and Financial Fallout: The Divorce Settlement
Following their divorce, a judge upheld the terms of their prenuptial agreement. As part of the settlement, Guobadia will pay Williams $40,000 per month in alimony for the duration of their 14-month marriage, which totals $560,000. Additionally, Williams was awarded the marital home in Atlanta, with all expenses—including the mortgage — covered for up to three years. Should she choose to purchase the home, Williams would need to refinance the property and provide Guobadia with 50% equity.
Despite the ruling, Guobadia made it clear that he is not satisfied with the decision. “I have 1,000% certainty that this decision is going to be appealed,” he declared, adding, “It’s basically what I’ve held from day one about this case when I realized that I was targeted.” Guobadia noted that he had honored prenuptial agreements in previous marriages but chose to challenge this one in court, even hinting that he would take the matter “all the way to the Supreme Court if I have to.”
Simon Guobadia on His Relationship With Porsha Williams’ Daughter
Although Williams has a daughter, Pilar “PJ” Jhena, 6, from a previous relationship, Guobadia makes it clear that he has no personal connection with the child. “I don’t have a relationship with her daughter,” he explained. Guobadia believes that children are often used as pawns in relationships, stating that he prefers not to grow close to his partners’ kids to avoid being manipulated.
“There’s a tendency for them to use their children to get back at [him], to try to come back into [his] life, and Porsha is no exception,” he said.
Guobadia confirmed that Williams did reach out to him via text a few months after their divorce, telling him that PJ missed him. However, he chose not to respond. “At that point, I was done,” he said.
Child Support Payments and Guobadia’s Reaction
During the divorce proceedings, Williams revealed that she had paid child support for Guobadia’s children while he was in ICE custody, unable to access his funds. However, Guobadia downplays the gesture, expressing skepticism about the sincerity of the payments.
“She sent her two $2,500 payments in one month, and that was it. That didn’t even necessarily cover anything,” Guobadia scoffed. He believes the payments were made for show, stating, “In my opinion it was not done in good faith. It was done to give a narrative in court or to the public that ‘I paid some of his child support.’”
Porsha Williams Moves On After Divorce
Despite the ongoing tensions, a source close to Williams recently told Page Six that the reality star has moved on from the relationship and wishes Guobadia the best.
In the aftermath of the divorce, both parties are focused on their respective futures, as the legal battles and public drama seem far from over. As Guobadia vows to appeal the ruling and continue fighting for a better settlement, it remains clear that the fallout from this marriage is still unfolding.
