Sonja Morgan Pays Off $20K Bill After Being Accused of Skipping Out on Payment!
Sonja Morgan is once again making headlines for all the wrong reasons. The Real Housewives of New York City alum has been accused of stiffing a Brooklyn-based HVAC company out of nearly $20,000—just months after being reportedly blacklisted from a trendy Manhattan eatery over a $1,000 unpaid tab.
Expert Appliance Group Inc. claims it installed HVAC equipment at Sonja’s former NYC townhouse in February 2024 and was initially paid via Zelle through Chase Bank. But more than a year later, the company says Chase reversed the entire transaction, leaving the business empty-handed and confused.
“There were no complaints, no explanation—the money was just gone,” a company rep told Page Six, adding that the Chase claims department was “disrespectful” and failed to review documents or contact the business before reversing the payment.
Frustrated and out of pocket, the company turned to Page Six after receiving no response from Morgan despite multiple calls and emails. Once contacted, Sonja responded, insisting she had indeed paid for the services rendered and that what happened afterward was beyond her control.
“Had [the owner] simply texted me – as we’ve always done – to say the [payment] had been reversed, I would have addressed it immediately,” Sonja explained. Following Page Six’s inquiry, the money was reportedly returned to Expert Appliance by Chase, but the company says it is now rethinking its relationship with the bank.
“We are in the process of reevaluating our relationship with Chase Bank,” the company shared.
The incident comes on the heels of another public snafu involving Sonja and NoHo hotspot Tucci. In May, she was accused of walking out on a nearly $1,000 dinner bill, sparking a public statement from the restaurant’s owner, Max Tucci, who said he had to break his personal rule of “welcoming everyone.”
Sonja, however, chalked the situation up to a simple mix-up. “I, of course, offered to pay and tip, and I did when they finally called me back on Monday,” she told PEOPLE.
Despite the drama, Sonja maintains she resolved both matters once she was made aware. But with lawsuits, reversed transactions, and restaurant bans all swirling at once, it’s clear the former RHONY star is facing more than just reality TV-level tension.
