Dolores Catania Says She’s “Not Switzerland” and Claims She’s Gone Above and Beyond for RHONJ Costars!

Dolores Catania is done staying silent about the narrative that she plays neutral on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. In a candid conversation on the Get Real with Kim D podcast, the longtime Bravo star made it clear she’s tired of being labeled “Switzerland” — a term often used to describe her perceived neutrality amid the show’s explosive cast feuds.

“Who’s Switzerland?” Dolores fired back during the interview. “I have stood there and stuck up and answered for my friends. And translated for my friends.” The reality star, known for her decades-long friendships with both Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga, continued defending her position, suggesting that the nickname was both inaccurate and unfair.

“I have done things that nobody else has done for each other or me,” Dolores said.

“And I’m the Switzerland one? … I can’t fight the world, and that’s what people wanted to peg me. Some f**king jerk-off blogger, however many years ago, [called me that] and it stuck. Guess what? Call me worse … There needs to be a neutral country to bring people together.”

While Dolores says she didn’t take offense to the label, she didn’t miss the chance to throw a little shade at her co-stars. “You know why I didn’t fight Switzerland? Because I’m not offended by it,” she noted. “It’s better than being called what some other people are called.”

Outside of the drama, Dolores also revealed she recently faced a serious health scare that landed her in the hospital. On the Two Ts In A Pod podcast, she opened up about a frightening moment that began with an unusual sensation in her chest.

“So [recently] my heart was beating out of my chest,” Dolores shared. “It [felt like] a flutter, it [felt] like a butterfly, and then it goes away. Well, it started to come more frequently… and then I got a pain from the middle of my chest to my shoulder when I was driving one day.”

Concerned, she sought medical attention and was ultimately diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, commonly known as AFib — a condition that, if untreated, can lead to stroke.

AFib is atrial fibrillation … You’re a walking stroke. You can have a stroke,” she explained. “So many people just ignore that. So I’m telling everybody, if you get those flutters in your chest, go see a doctor … They kind of shock[ed my] heart and cauterize[d] it.”

Despite the medical scare, Dolores says she’s feeling better and using her platform to spread awareness about heart health.

As for her standing on RHONJ, don’t expect Dolores to change her approach anytime soon. She may not fit into the show’s typical mold of explosive feuding, but as she made crystal clear, that doesn’t mean she hasn’t taken a stand — or that she’ll stay quiet when it counts.
