‘RHOA’ Star Angela Oakley Reveals Her Husband Charles Oakley Cheated and Had A Side Baby
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Angela Oakley is speaking out about her marriage, revealing that husband Charles Oakley cheated and fathered a child outside their relationship.
Wendy Williams is opening up about an unexpected exchange she says she once had with Angela Oakley, the wife of former NBA player Charles Oakley, during a conversation about infidelity.
Wendy Shares Private Conversation During “Hot Topics”
Back in September 2020, while hosting the “Hot Topics” segment on her daytime talk show, Wendy Williams recounted a moment she says occurred at a party she attended with Charles Oakley and his wife, Angela.
“I was at a party with he and his wife one time,” Wendy said. “And when I was leaving and getting myself together and gathering my belongings, I was saying goodbye to Charles.”
She continued, “And then [Angela] came over and said goodbye, and she gave me a hug. And she whispered in my ear. She said, ‘Can I tell you something?’ I said, ‘What?’”
Wendy claims Angela then told her: “‘Wendy, it’s only a baby. You can work this out.’”
Surprised by the comment, Wendy recalled asking Angela, “Has this ever happened to you?”
According to Wendy, Angela replied, “Yes.” When Wendy asked if they were able to move past it, Angela allegedly pointed at Charles and said, “Yes.”
“I said, ‘Well, then you’re more forgiving than me,’ and kept ongoing,” Wendy shared. “Yeah, people put up with that mess.”
Charles Oakley has been married to Angela Oakley since 2016. It’s unclear when the alleged conversation took place, or whether Angela and Charles were already married at the time.
Wendy Reflects on Her Own Marital Challenges
The anecdote follows Wendy’s high-profile split from her ex-husband Kevin Hunter. The two were married for 22 years and share one son, Kevin Jr., now 20.
In April 2019, Wendy filed for divorce after reports surfaced that Kevin had fathered a child with another woman.
In August 2019, Kevin spoke to People and admitted to mistakes in the marriage. “I am not proud of my recent actions,” he said at the time. “I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs.”
“No matter what the outcome is or what the future holds, we are still The Hunter Family and I will continue to work with and fully support my wife in this business and through any and all obstacles she may face living her new life of sobriety, while I also work on mine,” he added.
In an interview with The New York Times Magazine later that month, Wendy addressed the situation more directly.
“Kevin had a major indiscretion that he will have to deal with for the rest of his life,” she said. “An indiscretion that I will not deal with. He will always be my family because we have a 19-year-old son, and we were together for 25 years and married for 21. But there was no vacillating. I’m out. That’s all I can say.”
Wendy’s Instagram Post Hints at Past Infidelity
In a social media post from last month, Wendy shared a photo of herself holding a little girl in the back of a car.
“Look @ me with my baby girl,” she captioned the image. “I’m not the only Hunter with a baby situation.”
The post appeared to be a subtle jab at her ex-husband’s past actions, echoing her previous statements about betrayal and her decision to move forward.
Angela Discusses Marriage Struggles on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”
Angela Oakley has recently shared her own marital challenges with Charles Oakley on Season 16 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
In the March 23 episode, Angela brought up the possibility of renewing their vows, something she says she’s wanted to do after a rocky start to their marriage.
“I really, really, really want to do that,” Angela told Charles, referencing their 2016 wedding. “2017 with Madison Square Garden, that was a very, very rough time.”
Charles, a former New York Knicks player, was arrested in February 2017 following an altercation at Madison Square Garden. The incident resulted in three counts of assault and one count of criminal trespass. The charges were later dropped.
Angela revealed that the couple separated just one year into their marriage. “He needed to heal, and I couldn’t heal him during this time. I was just like, ‘You know what? We’re going to try to work through this at a distance.’ And we did live separately.”
Now, Angela feels a vow renewal is important, but Charles is hesitant.
“Charles is holding our vow renewal over my head because he feels like we spent all this money on these houses,” Angela said. “Let’s handle this first, and then we can jump into something else.”
She mentioned their couple’s counselor, whom she appreciates. “$3,000 a month, you should love them,” Charles joked.
Angela corrected him, saying she only pays $1,200 a month and added, “Listen, we need it. For the sake of our marriage, for the next 10 years.”
Charles replied with a laugh, “Oh, that’s a long time,” prompting Angela to ask, “Too long?”
“You never know,” he teased.
Angela closed the conversation by saying, “There’s a lot of things we need to go to therapy for.”
