Wendy Williams’ Guardian Under Investigation for ELDER ABUSE After She Was Left Stranded in Miami with NO MONEY!
A new report claims Wendy Williams’ guardianship is under investigation for elder abuse after concerns were raised about how the former talk show host is being treated.
According to The U.S. Sun, Adult Protective Services (APS) launched an investigation last week following allegations that Williams’ court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, failed to provide her with financial resources during a recent trip to Florida.
Allegations of Financial Control
A source told the outlet that Williams’ civil rights and liberty are being denied and accused Morrissey of enabling elder abuse by restricting her access to money.
“The guardian gave her a credit card with no funds when she went to Miami,” the insider claimed.
Williams, 60, traveled to Miami last month to visit her father for his birthday, but the source alleges that she had no access to money during the trip.
“The credit card given to her by Sabrina was declined, and someone else had to pay for her purchases,” the source continued. “That’s elder abuse.”
Additionally, the insider accused Morrissey of mismanaging Williams’ finances, stating, “The guardian is spending all her money hiring lawyers to defend herself and squandering Wendy’s money on legal fees.”
Emergency Hospitalization
The investigation into Williams’ guardianship comes just days after she was taken to a hospital from her assisted living facility in New York City.
On Monday, Williams reportedly dropped a handwritten note from her fifth-story room window, pleading for help. The note, which was handed to a photographer outside, simply read:
“Help! Wendy!!”
Following the incident, police were called for a wellness check, and an ambulance transported Williams to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Wendy Speaks Out: “I Feel Like I’m in Prison”
Williams has been vocal about her frustrations under guardianship.
During a January interview on The Breakfast Club, she described her living situation as emotional abuse and said she felt trapped in the facility.
“I am not cognitively impaired, but I feel like I am in prison,” she said.
She also described feeling isolated among elderly residents.
“To talk to these people who live here, that is not my cup of tea,” she shared, adding that she spends most of her time watching TV, listening to the radio, or looking out the window.
In the same interview, Williams made a shocking claim about her finances, saying she had only $15 to her name despite earning millions throughout her career.
Legal Battle Over Guardianship
Williams was placed under a court-ordered guardianship in 2022 after her bank, Wells Fargo, expressed concerns about her well-being. The bank filed a letter with New York Supreme Court Judge Arlene Bluth, leading to the appointment of a guardian to oversee her affairs.
Last year, Williams’ team announced that she had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia.
Her family has since claimed they have been denied contact with her due to the guardianship arrangement.
In November 2024, Morrissey stated that Williams was permanently incapacitated by dementia.
What’s Next?
With Adult Protective Services now investigating the guardianship for possible elder abuse, the future of Williams’ legal and financial situation remains uncertain.
As her battle continues, fans and supporters are rallying behind the talk show legend, hoping she will regain control over her life and finances.
