Lauren Graham Accidentally Reveals Mae Whitman’s “Baby Daddy” on Podcast
Lauren Graham may have just let a major secret slip about Mae Whitman’s private life.
During an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast Monday, the Gilmore Girls alum casually identified Carlos Valdes as the father of Whitman’s six-month-old son, Miles.
Graham Spills the Tea
Graham, 57, who played Whitman’s mother on Parenthood for six seasons, was reminiscing about the last time she saw her former co-star when she made the unexpected reveal.
“They’re in New York now,” she said. “Carlos, her baby daddy, is on Broadway in Hadestown, which I feel happy to plug because he’s fantastic in it. Carlos Valdes.”
She continued, “So they’re in New York for the next while, and then she got this job in Ireland. So she’s in Ireland with the baby.”
Graham went on to praise the 35-year-old actor, calling him “really great.”
Whitman and Valdes’ Private Relationship
Whitman, 36, has never publicly confirmed a relationship with Valdes, her Up Here co-star from 2023.
When she announced her pregnancy in May 2024, she made no mention of her baby’s father. Instead, she kept the focus on her excitement about motherhood.
She even had help from her Parenthood family, reuniting with Lauren Graham and Miles Heizer to reveal her baby bump.
“Not to make a Parenthood episode out of it or anything but!!! Mother’s Day looking a little different this year!” she wrote in an Instagram post at the time. “Can’t wait to meet you, huge baby kicking my insides to filth!”
In June, Whitman gave fans a pregnancy update, writing that she was “huge and happy but achy” while enjoying a babymoon.
Welcoming Baby Miles
Whitman gave birth to her son in August 2024 and introduced him to the world in a heartfelt Instagram post.
“From the moment we heard the first tiny sound out of his tiny piggy mouth we were besotted,” she wrote.
“He is the kindest, gentlest, smartest, funniest little beebee and he’s our best friend,” she added, revealing that Miles was named after Heizer, her longtime close friend and Parenthood co-star.
While Whitman and Valdes have never confirmed their romance, Graham’s offhand comment appears to have ended the speculation about baby Miles’ father. Neither Whitman nor Valdes have responded to Graham’s slip.
