Brittany Cartwright Reveals Family Trauma From Jax Taylor’s Drug Use and Says She’s Skeptical About His Sobriety!
Brittany Cartwright is opening up about the impact of Jax Taylor’s cocaine addiction on their family, revealing the pain she endured and why she remains doubtful about his recovery.
Days after Jax, 45, confessed to his decades-long struggle with substance abuse on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, Brittany, 35, reflected on the emotional toll his addiction took on their marriage and their three-year-old son, Cruz. In a statement to PEOPLE on March 4, Brittany expressed relief that her estranged husband was finally being honest about his struggles.
“I’m glad that he finally admitted to what was really going on,” she shared.
“For the first time, I can speak openly about the extent of trauma he’s instilled on our family over the years.” Brittany admitted that despite her best efforts, she was unable to help Jax overcome his addiction.
“I tried desperately to help him,” she revealed. “I pray that one day he completely knocks this addiction, but I’m skeptical. His behaviors are still alarming, and his treatment plan seems to be the bare minimum.” Now, Brittany is focused on moving forward and doing what’s best for Cruz.
“I’m trying to navigate this as best as I can for my son and I, but every day is still a challenge and very difficult,” she admitted. “Jax has caused an enormous amount of damage, and I have very little trust in him at this point.”
Despite her doubts, she holds out hope that Jax can change. “My only hope is that one day, he will be a better person for his son,” Brittany said.
Brittany also teased that she would discuss Jax’s addiction and its impact on their family in more detail on the upcoming episode of her podcast, When Reality Hits, airing Friday, March 7.
With The Valley set to return for season two, fans will have to wait and see how Jax’s sobriety journey unfolds—and whether Brittany’s skepticism proves to be true.
