Venita Aspen SLAMS Southern Charm Producers for Bad Editing and Making Her Look Like a Side Chick!
Venita Aspen is setting the record straight.
The Southern Charm star, 31, took to social media to call out Bravo’s editing, claiming that the timeline of events on the show was manipulated to make her look like she pursued Jarrett ‘JT’ Thomas despite knowing he had a girlfriend.
The controversy began after an episode aired in which Venita cooked branzino for Jarrett and they shared a flirty dinner. By the end of the scene, however, Jarrett revealed he was seeing someone else. But in the most recent episode, during the cast’s trip to the Bahamas, Jarrett told the group he turned Venita down after she came onto him, sparking backlash from fans who believed she had knowingly pursued someone already in a relationship.
Venita wasted no time calling out the misleading edit. “Let me make something VERY CLEAR,” she wrote via Instagram on March 1. “That dinner JT and I had after I made a Branzino was AFTER the Bahamas,” she explained.
“[Y’all] as an audience saw it BEFORE. So this [week’s] episode is now making me look like I’m a homewrecker when I’m not.” Venita acknowledged that she signed up for reality TV and all that comes with it, but she drew the line at being falsely portrayed as the other woman.
“I know what I signed up for, but I also will not allow the world to think I’m that woman when I’m not,” she continued. She then called out fans who were running with the edited storyline. “Make sure you add this screenshot to all of the Reddit threads,” she wrote, making it clear she was aware of the chatter online.
After Venita’s post went viral, some of her co-stars backed her up—while also shading Jarrett. Salley Carson, who has butted heads with Jarrett throughout the season, didn’t hold back. “Lil b*tch hid his girlfriend all season,” she commented under a repost of Venita’s claims.
Meanwhile, former castmate Rod Razavi hinted that he also experienced manipulative editing while on Southern Charm. “Didn’t know we were allowed to do this,” Rod commented, referring to Venita publicly calling out production. “Would’ve made my life much easier. 😂😂”
With tensions rising and Jarrett’s version of events now under scrutiny, it’s clear that Southern Charm fans haven’t heard the last of this drama.
Southern Charm airs Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
