Elon Musk’s father, Errol Musk, did not hold back in his criticism of the billionaire’s parenting, sharing his views during an appearance on the Wide Awake podcast. Two days before author Ashley St. Clair claimed she had given birth to Elon’s 13th child, Errol, 79, expressed his concerns about Elon’s hands-off approach to fatherhood.
“He hasn’t been a good dad,” Errol said in a TikTok clip from the podcast. “The first child was too much with nannies and died in the care of a nanny.”
Elon’s first child with ex-wife Justine Wilson, their son Nevada, tragically passed away in 2002 at just 10 weeks old due to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
Errol Calls Out Elon’s Parenting Approach
Despite acknowledging that Elon might be unhappy with his remarks, Errol doubled down on his stance. “Elon’s gonna shoot me for saying this, but that’s what I think. That’s no good. They were too rich, too many nannies,” he claimed.
According to Errol, Elon and Wilson’s five surviving children — twins Griffin and Vivian, 20, and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian, 19 — each had their own nanny.
“When they got divorced [in 2008], the nannies were six on this side and six on that side,” Errol added. “It was a really weird situation.”
When podcast host Joshua Rubin asked if Elon, 53, spent enough time with his children, Errol insisted that he had not.
Social Media Backlash
Following the interview, multiple TikTok users criticized Errol’s statements, calling out what they saw as “disturbing … hypocrisy,” given his own controversial personal history, including fathering a child with his former stepdaughter, Jana Bezuidenhout.
One user remarked, “Bad dads can notice bad dads.”
Elon’s Expanding Family
In addition to the children he shares with Wilson, Elon has fathered three children — son X AE A-XII, 4, daughter Exa, 3, and son Techno, 2—with his ex Grimes. He also has three children — twins Strider and Azure, 2, and a 1-year-old—with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis.
The Tesla CEO has not publicly acknowledged St. Clair’s since-deleted claim on X that they share a 5-month-old child. However, he did respond to a post suggesting that the Elephants Are Not Birds author had “plotted for HALF A DECADE to ensnare” him.
Vivian Musk Reacts
Elon’s estranged daughter, Vivian, addressed the situation with humor on TikTok.
“Wow, if I had a nickel for every time I found out I had half-siblings through Reddit, I’d have two nickels … which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice, right?” she quipped.
Vivian, who legally changed her name and gender in 2022, has distanced herself from Elon. The SpaceX founder previously told the Financial Times that he “can’t win them all.”
Elon remains critical of Vivian’s transition, blaming it on a “woke-mind virus.” She has repeatedly pushed back on social media, with Grimes also publicly defending her.
