Mauricio Umansky Hospitalized After Near Death Ski Accident in Aspen
Mauricio Umansky was involved in a skiing accident this past weekend in Aspen, Colorado, which left him hospitalized and in need of emergency surgery.
The estranged husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards, 56, shared updates on his condition through a series of posts on his Instagram account, expressing gratitude for the medical care he received.
Ski Accident and Immediate Medical Attention
Mauricio Umansky, 54, confirmed the ski accident with his followers, describing the incident that led to a broken clavicle. In a message shared via his Instagram on February 14, he thanked the ski patrol, paramedics, and Aspen Hospital staff for their quick response.
“I feel so blessed to be taken care of by such amazing humans. Ski patrol, [paramedics], Aspen Hospital you’re all the best,” Mauricio wrote, alongside a post detailing his injury. According to his update, the broken clavicle was the primary injury he sustained during the accident.
Later, Mauricio shared another post from his hospital room, where he prepared for surgery. With a photo of an X-ray machine, he offered a candid reflection on the incident.
“Let’s get this surgery done so I can heal. Play hard sometimes you get hurt but the care here has been incredible,” he said in the post, demonstrating a positive outlook despite the painful circumstances.
Surgery and Recovery Update
After undergoing surgery, Mauricio returned to social media on February 16 to update his followers on his recovery. In his post, he confirmed that the surgery had been successful and thanked his fans for their well-wishes. He explained that his clavicle was broken in a “clean break,” but the doctors had successfully inserted a metal plate and 12 screws to help him heal.
“Thank you to everyone who has reached out. I have felt so much love and support,” he wrote, expressing his gratitude for the outpouring of support he had received from his followers.
He went on to praise the doctors and nurses who cared for him at Aspen Valley Hospital, noting, “The Doctors and Nurses at Aspen Valley Hospital are the best.”
Grateful for Safety Measures
In addition to updating fans on his surgery, Mauricio took a moment to emphasize the importance of wearing protective gear while skiing. Reflecting on the severity of the accident, he acknowledged that things could have been much worse had he not been wearing a helmet.
“I was wearing a helmet and that for sure saved me,” Mauricio stated, underscoring the value of safety measures in preventing more serious injuries while participating in extreme sports.
Looking Ahead to Recovery
Despite the challenging circumstances, Mauricio expressed optimism for a speedy recovery. “I expect a speedy recovery,” he shared, signaling his readiness to heal and get back to his usual activities in the coming weeks.
His fans and followers, including members of the Real Housewives fan community, have offered continued support as he navigates the recovery process.
Season 14 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills continues to air on Bravo, with new episodes every Tuesday at 9/8c. Fans of the show and Mauricio are sure to be keeping an eye on his progress and wishing him a full recovery in the weeks ahead.
