Karen Huger Denies Being a DRUNK and SHADES Wendy Osefo During ‘RHOP’ Reunion
Karen Huger sparked controversy during the Real Housewives of Potomac reunion by denying any issues with alcohol while subtly throwing shade at Wendy Osefo, leaving fans stunned and questioning their friendship.
The recent Real Housewives of Potomac reunion has fans buzzing, particularly due to a short video message from Karen Huger that left many viewers questioning her accountability and relationships within the group.
While Karen’s absence from the reunion was already known, her video message became a focal point, especially due to her failure to acknowledge co-star Wendy Osefo despite their past closeness.
Karen, who was found guilty in December on charges related to a March 2024 car accident, is facing sentencing on February 26, and she is now working with a new legal team. The incident, which marked her second DUI offense, has led to significant public scrutiny, especially after body cam footage revealed concerning details about her behavior. However, it wasn’t until after the guilty verdict that Karen checked herself into a treatment center, causing her to miss the reunion.
The first part of the reunion didn’t shy away from Karen’s legal troubles. During the opening minutes, Karen addressed her situation, denying any claims of alcoholism despite the severity of the charges.
“No, I’m not an alcoholic, let’s be clear,” Karen said in the clip, filmed just 12 hours after her guilty verdict. She continued by expressing her responsibility for the incident, “I accept full responsibility for everything that went on with my car accident. I don’t care about me right now. I care about my children, I care about my family. They are so hurt.”

However, it was Karen’s second video message during the reunion that caused more of a stir. In the clip, Karen thanked several castmates for their support during this difficult time, but notably, she failed to mention Wendy, despite their history of mutual support. Press play below to watch.

Karen opened her video by explaining her absence: “Okay, ladies, as you notice, I’m not there. I’m going away to a treatment center to address taking antidepressants and drinking.” She then went on to thank several of her co-stars, including Gizelle Bryant, K, Jassi, and even Andy Cohen, but when it came to Wendy, she was noticeably silent.
“I want to get to the bottom of it,” Karen said about her issues with antidepressants and alcohol, “but I would be remiss if I didn’t take this time to thank those who truly touched my heart through this whole process.” After thanking others, she added, “Ladies, I’m sure you’re going to do me proud and look fabulous at the reunion, but nobody sit in my seat, okay? Love you.”
Karen’s video was met with mixed reactions from her co-stars. Mia Thornton and Ashley Darby were particularly vocal in their disagreement with Karen’s explanation of her struggles. Mia especially took issue with Karen’s claim that her problems stemmed from a combination of antidepressants and alcohol.
But it was Wendy’s reaction — or lack thereof — that seemed to make the strongest impression. Fans were quick to notice Wendy’s visible hurt at being left out of Karen’s thank-you message, given her role as one of Karen’s staunchest supporters. The two had previously shared a close bond, with Wendy often defending Karen and advocating for their friendship on and off the show.
One fan expressed their disbelief at Karen’s treatment of Wendy, saying, “I genuinely don’t understand why she treats Wendy that way. And Wendy legit always rides for Karen and tries to connect with her.” Another fan remarked, “Wendy was visibly hurt that she wasn’t mentioned.”
Karen’s failure to recognize Wendy’s support was a telling moment in the reunion, with many fans questioning whether their friendship was as strong as it had appeared. For Wendy, this may have been the wake-up call that Karen was never truly the friend she seemed to be.
As the reunion continues, it’s clear that the drama surrounding Karen Huger and her relationships with her castmates will continue to be a hot topic. Fans can look forward to part two of the Real Housewives of Potomac reunion, which airs on February 23.
