Andy Cohen ‘Sad’ Over Karen Huger’s Guilty DUI Verdict Amid Uncertainty About Her Future on RHOP!
Season 9 of The Real Housewives of Potomac just got messier as Karen Huger, the self-proclaimed Grande Dame, faces a guilty verdict in her headline-grabbing DUI case—leaving Andy Cohen “sad” about the situation amid reports she could be kicked off the show.
Karen’s legal troubles began in March when her vehicle reportedly crossed a median and collided with several street signs. Thankfully, she was unharmed in the accident, but body cam footage from that night raised eyebrows among fans and critics alike.
After over five hours of deliberation, the jury delivered its verdict on December 18, 2024. Karen was found guilty of driving under the influence, failure to control speed to avoid a collision, failure to notify authorities of an address change, and negligent driving. She was acquitted of reckless driving.
Andy Cohen, the mastermind behind the Housewives franchise, shared his reaction to Karen’s verdict. “I think it’s all sad,” he told PEOPLE. “I haven’t really processed it yet. But I think it’s very sad.”
Initially, prosecutors sought a 60-day jail sentence for Karen, but her legal team hoped that taking the case to a jury trial would result in no jail time. Unfortunately for Karen, the verdict leaves her facing up to two years in prison. Her sentencing is set for January 29, 2025.
In light of this conviction, reports have surfaced suggesting that Karen’s future on the show may be in jeopardy. Sources indicate that Bravo executives are deliberating her status, with some insiders claiming she is on the “chopping block” unless she addresses her behavior.
One source noted, “She was obnoxious to police and disrespectful of the law enforcement. This will all be taken into consideration, and she is going to have to get sober before any decisions are made.”
Karen’s attorney, A. Scott Bolden, expressed disappointment in the outcome. “Although we are disappointed in the jury’s verdict, we, of course, respect their decision and appreciate their time hearing our case,” Bolden stated.
“We continue to reserve Mrs. Huger’s right to an appeal and intend to fully pursue justice on her behalf. We appreciate your support and prayers for Mrs. Huger and her family at this time.”
As Karen’s legal battle unfolds, fans of The Real Housewives of Potomac will be watching closely to see how the grande dame navigates this challenging chapter.
Catch all the drama as RHOP continues Sunday nights at 8/7c on Bravo.
