Whoopi Goldberg GETS CHECKED for Defending Biden’s Hunter Pardon: ‘Why Can’t You Admit Democrats Are Wrong’
Charlamagne Tha God stirred up a lively debate on The View Wednesday, confronting Whoopi Goldberg over President Joe Biden’s controversial decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden.
The Breakfast Club host called out Democrats for what he described as hypocrisy, questioning Whoopi’s refusal to criticize Biden’s actions.
“Why can’t you say when Democrats are wrong?” Charlamagne asked Whoopi during the segment. The discussion centered around Biden’s recent pardon of Hunter, shielding him from federal charges related to gun and tax offenses over the past decade. Critics have accused the 82-year-old president of backtracking on his earlier pledge not to intervene in his 54-year-old son’s legal issues.
Charlamagne argued that criticism of Biden was warranted, stating, “Democrats stand on this moral high ground all the time and act so self-righteous.” He added, “The reality is, he didn’t have to say anything in regards to whether or not his son wanted to be pardoned … but since they were calling (President-elect Donald) Trump a threat to democracy and they were saying that nobody is above the law, that’s what they were running on.”
Goldberg Defends Biden’s Actions
Whoopi pushed back, insisting that Americans couldn’t definitively label Biden’s earlier statement as dishonest. She argued, “We don’t know why he changed his mind,” referencing Biden’s claim that he decided to pardon Hunter over Thanksgiving weekend.
Charlamagne, however, expressed skepticism, saying, “You really think he changed his mind over Thanksgiving weekend all of a sudden?” Whoopi countered, suggesting that Biden’s frustration with watching others “get over” might have influenced his decision.
The disagreement highlighted a broader divide between the two liberal figures. While Whoopi defended Biden’s choice, Charlamagne maintained that the decision undermined the Democratic Party’s stance on accountability and fairness.
Partisan Politics and Objectivity
Charlamagne took the opportunity to highlight what he views as a lack of objectivity among supporters of both major political parties. “When it comes to political parties, if you pick a side, if you say you’re a Democrat or you say you’re a Republican, you refuse to be objective about anything,” he argued.
Whoopi responded by emphasizing that Democrats are not a monolith. Still, Charlamagne pressed her, repeating his initial question: “Why can’t you say when Democrats are wrong?” He then added, “And why can’t Republicans say when Republicans are wrong?”
Whoopi claimed she holds Democrats accountable on the show but doubled down on her belief that Biden did nothing wrong in pardoning his son. Charlamagne dismissed her defense, calling it “ridiculous.”
A Heated Yet Respectful Exchange
Despite the tension, the debate ended on a light note. Whoopi invited Charlamagne to give her a hug, which he accepted. “Neither one of them has the moral high ground,” Charlamagne said of Democrats and Republicans.
He concluded by urging viewers to avoid blind loyalty to political parties. “That’s what I’m trying to get people to understand. When you are a die-hard Democrat or a die-hard Republican, you refuse to be objective about the other party.”
Charlamagne’s appearance on The View left viewers with much to consider, as the discussion underscored the ongoing challenges of political partisanship and accountability in American politics.
