Katie Maloney Reveals She Quit Vanderpump Rules Months Before the Reboot was Announced!
Katie Maloney has confirmed that her departure from Vanderpump Rules was a choice she made months before Bravo announced the series’ reboot with an entirely new cast.
Speaking on Wednesday’s episode of her Disrespectfully podcast alongside co-host Dayna Kathan, Katie shared, “You know — as [well as] many people close to me — I didn’t plan on returning.”
Katie revealed that her decision to leave the series came after the Season 11 reunion, which aired in May. “Maybe it doesn’t matter at this point, but I had made a decision months ago after this past season,” she explained. “I just needed to move on with my life. And this is before we knew the show was gonna be put on pause, before any of that.”
Dayna supported Katie’s timeline, confirming, “Yeah. And I had talked to our producers about it, and I told them my decision on that.”
The Utah native noted that her life was moving in a “different direction,” and she felt ready to leave the show. “Mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, I was prepared,” Katie said.
“I lived many lives [and] went through so much on that show, but I don’t know if I can live and grow and be the version of myself I want to be on this show any longer.”
While Maloney acknowledged Bravo’s decision to refresh the cast, she said it wasn’t surprising given the fractured dynamic among the original group following Scandoval. “Many of us don’t hang out,” she admitted. “The cohesive unit just doesn’t exist anymore.”
Reflecting on the shift, she added, “I understand the decision to bring in a new group of close-knit SUR-vers. The dynamic wasn’t the same, and there wasn’t a way to repair it.”
Despite feeling ready to move on, Maloney admitted the end of her Vanderpump Rules journey felt “surreal,” “weird,” and “sad no matter what.”
Still, she shut down rumors that cast members demanded excessive pay, clarifying that negotiations hadn’t even started before her decision to step away. “Those rumors are just not true,” she said.
