RECAP: ‘Sister Wives’ Meri Brown UNCOVERS Kody’s SCHEME To Cheat Her Out of Coyote Pass!
The December 1st episode of Sister Wives is packed with emotional moments and escalating tensions. With the looming deadline to pay off Coyote Pass, the Brown family faces unresolved conflicts over dividing the property. Meanwhile, Meri embarks on a solo trip to England, Savannah’s graduation party highlights Kody’s strained family relationships, and the drama surrounding their former lives resurfaces during Kody’s Vegas trip with his brothers.
Meri and Kody’s Emotional Goodbye
The episode begins at Meri Brown’s Bed & Breakfast in Parowan, Utah, where she and Kody Brown share a tearful embrace after he permanently moves her there. Kody thanks Meri for allowing him to leave their relationship peacefully after years of turmoil.
“This moment with Meri is me moving from the anger to just this moment of grief,” Kody explains in his confessional. “And just trying to be safe in it, sit in it, own it and heal it.”
Meri, however, is left questioning her decision as Kody drives away.
“I’m so confused,” she admits. “Part of me was like, ‘Oh s—t, what have I done? Maybe I did the wrong thing.’”
Kody’s tears also leave an impression on his former brother-in-law Nathan Dilts, who accompanies him during the move.
“When we get in my car and drive off, [Nathan] just touches me and says, ‘Friend, you know I’m not one to push, but are you sure?’” Kody recalls.
Despite the emotional goodbye, Kody remains firm in his decision to end their marriage. “I know that Meri and I can’t be married. And I’m not questioning our experience because it’s a great memory. It’s just the end.”
Meri reflects on her conflicted emotions, acknowledging her doubts but ultimately standing by her decision. “If you’re so clear that you don’t ever want to be married to me, but you’re sitting here sobbing about ‘the end of an era’ and ‘we had something special,’ which one is it?” she wonders aloud.
Savannah’s Graduation Party Without Kody
Janelle hosts a graduation party for her daughter, Savannah, at Christine’s home in Utah. Notably absent is Kody, as Janelle decides not to invite him or Robyn.
“Kody is alienated from 90 to 95 percent of his children,” Janelle explains. “He is not really wanted at events. He is not coming regardless of who he brings or doesn’t bring with him.”
Kody blames his estrangement on the family’s resentment toward Robyn.
“I’d like to be a part of Savannah’s life, but it’s like they’re in this collusion that seems to hate Robyn, and I don’t know why other than, well, they’re jealous,” Kody says.
Janelle, however, sees things differently. “Kody has this idea that if he leaves Robyn home, he’ll be welcomed at family gatherings. That’s so far from the truth.”
Meri’s Solo Journey to England
In a bid to reclaim her independence, Meri takes a trip to England, documenting visits to iconic landmarks like Big Ben, King’s Cross Station, and Buckingham Palace.
“This is, seriously, just kind of a defining moment,” Meri shares in a video. “I mean, the world is my oyster!”
The highlight of her trip is a visit to Stonehenge, where she becomes visibly emotional.
“I literally cannot believe I’m here,” Meri says, wiping away tears. “It’s something I’ve wanted to do for, probably, the majority of my life.”
Her fascination with Stonehenge goes back decades. “I remember one night staying up late watching this documentary about Stonehenge, and it made me even that much more fascinated.”
Coyote Pass Disputes
Back in Flagstaff, the family remains at odds over dividing the Coyote Pass property. Kody has proposed changes to the original lot divisions, which include two plots for him and Robyn, one for Janelle, and one shared between Janelle and Meri.
Meri insists on getting an appraisal, saying, “I’m not married to Kody anymore. I’m not part of Kody and Robyn’s unit. I have to look out for myself.”
Janelle accuses Kody of resisting the appraisal because he knows he’s benefiting from the arrangement.
“I believe that Kody is resistant to getting an appraisal because he knows he’s making out like a bandit,” Janelle says.
Kody, however, appears uninterested in resolving the property dispute. “I don’t want to put in more money. I don’t want to do appraisals. I don’t want to talk to lawyers about it. I’m not interested in doing anything.”
The group remains at a standstill, with no resolution in sight.
Kody’s Vegas Nostalgia
In an attempt to escape the family drama, Kody takes a trip to Las Vegas with his brothers. During the visit, he reflects on their time living in a cul-de-sac with separate homes for each wife.
“Calling our setup with four homes in one cul-de-sac during our stretch in Las Vegas ‘the best time of my life,’” Kody says. “Everything was going along smoothly. Maddie and Caleb were around, and it was great having them around. And I loved Caleb. He was definitely like family.”
Kody laments how things fell apart after the family moved to Flagstaff, citing coronavirus-related tensions and the breakdown of his marriages as contributing factors.
Selective Memory and Marital Frustrations
During a meeting with Kody and Robyn about Coyote Pass, Meri vents her frustration over Kody’s apparent lack of interest in her life, especially her trip to Stonehenge.
“Did you not know that I’m obsessed with Stonehenge and how important this was to me?” Meri asks.
Kody brushes off her complaints, blaming his forgetfulness on being a man.
“There are certain things I’m just going to remember and there are certain things that just aren’t going to matter to me, even if they do matter to you,” he says.
Janelle and Christine echo Meri’s sentiments, claiming Kody only pays attention to things he personally finds interesting.
Sister Wives airs on TLC, Sundays at 10 p.m. ET.
