Sean “Diddy” Combs Accused of Witness Tampering and Social Media Manipulation While Incarcerated

Prosecutors are accusing Sean “Diddy” Combs of attempting to obstruct justice while detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

New court documents, filed on Nov. 15 and obtained by PEOPLE, allege that the 55-year-old music mogul has engaged in behavior designed to evade law enforcement monitoring, influence witness testimony, and manipulate public perception through social media campaigns.

The allegations come as part of the prosecution’s opposition to Diddy’s latest motion for bail, which was filed on Nov. 8. Combs has been denied bail twice since his September indictment on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Prosecutors Claim Combs Evaded Monitoring and Influenced Witnesses

According to the filing, Sean “Diddy” Combs is accused of using other inmates’ phone access codes, or PAC numbers, to make calls and communicate with individuals not on his approved contact list. Prosecutors allege he also utilized three-way calls to add unauthorized parties to conversations, a method that violates Bureau of Prisons (BOP) regulations because it conceals the identities of the contacted individuals.

Additionally, Diddy allegedly accessed a non-authorized messaging service, ContactMeASAP, via accounts tied to his son and another inmate. Through this platform, prosecutors claim he sent messages to “dozens of individuals,” including attorneys and people not approved by the BOP.

The filing also alleges that Diddy directed payments to other inmates whose PAC numbers he used, paying them through apps and BOP commissary account deposits.

Prosecutors argue that these actions show a clear intent to obstruct justice.

Social Media Campaigns Aimed at Influencing Jury

Prosecutors also allege that Diddy orchestrated a targeted social media campaign to influence potential jurors. The filing claims that Diddy enlisted his family members to celebrate his birthday in a public display designed to sway public opinion.

“At the defendant’s carefully curated direction, the defendant’s children posted a video to their respective social media accounts showing the defendant’s children gathered to celebrate the defendant’s birthday,” prosecutors wrote.

In the video, posted on Nov. 4 by Diddy‘s son Justin, the 30-year-old is seen alongside his siblings calling their father in prison to wish him a happy birthday. Combs, appearing emotional, thanked his children for their support.

Prosecutors allege that Diddy monitored the video’s analytics and discussed with his family how to maximize its impact on potential jurors.

The filing further claims that Diddy made efforts to leak footage favorable to his defense anonymously.

A History of Alleged Witness Tampering

In their opposition, prosecutors argue that Diddy is a flight risk and a “danger to others.” They accuse him of attempting to contact potential witnesses, including alleged victims who could provide damaging testimony against him.

“The defendant has continued to engage in a relentless course of obstructive conduct designed to subvert the integrity” of the proceedings, prosecutors allege.

They cite his previous bail denial by two federal judges, both of whom pointed to Diddy’s potential for witness tampering as a significant concern.

Defense Pushes Back on “Thin” Case

In Diddy’s Nov. 8 motion for bail, his attorneys argued that the prosecution’s case against him is weak. They referenced a March 2016 video included in the initial indictment, which prosecutors allege shows Combs violently assaulting a woman.

“The video is not evidence of a coerced ‘freak off,’ but rather a minutes-long glimpse into a complex but decade-long consensual relationship between Mr. Combs and Victim 1,” the filing states.

The indictment focuses on Diddy’s alleged organization of “freak offs,” described as coerced or forced sexual performances involving women and male sex workers, sometimes lasting for days.

Looking Ahead to Trial

Diddy has pleaded not guilty to all charges. His trial is scheduled for May 2025, and his legal team previously proposed a $50 million bail package, which was rejected.

As the allegations of obstructive conduct continue to mount, it remains unclear whether Diddy will be granted another bail hearing. Prosecutors maintain that his actions during incarceration underscore the need to keep him detained.

This developing case adds yet another layer of controversy to Diddy’s already high-profile legal battle. Stay tuned for updates as the proceedings move forward.
