RECAP: ‘Sister Wives’ Christine’s Wedding Plans Raise Eyebrows: Kids Fear She’s Rushing to the Altar!
In the November 3rd episode of Sister Wives tensions rise as Janelle Brown hires a lawyer to confront Kody Brown over property issues, while Christine Brown plans a wedding that leaves her kids questioning her pace. Plus Robyn says the other wives think she’s doing ‘evil spells’ on Kody.
Christine’s Plans A Wedding But Her Kids are moving Too Fast
The kicks off at Christine Brown’s bustling home, where her kids gather for a family tradition — Hawaiian haystacks. Gwendlyn is mysteriously absent. The real star of the show, however, is Christine greeting her boyfriend, David Wooley, with a passionate kiss. Seriously, Christine, tone it down a notch – it’s giving desperate to be loved!
“Some of my kids are great with David. Some of my kids are, like, on the fence a bit,” Christine tells the cameras, and it’s clear she knows the stakes are high. This is the first time her son, Paedon, is meeting David, and let’s just say, he doesn’t hold back. He jokingly insists that David is too old for his mom, calling him “Richard.”
The family then dives straight into wedding talk as Aspyn asks David about his thoughts on the venues they’ve checked out. David, ever the proactive partner, is already eyeing a spot in Moab and has even made a bold move: he’s asked Christine’s dad for her hand in marriage. Naturally, Dad says “yes.” After all, who wouldn’t want a polar bear over Kody? David seems to fit right in with Christine and her kids, cracking jokes and getting their quirky humor. But Kody? He couldn’t care less who Christine is dating.
Meanwhile, Janelle enters the chat and acknowledges she’s never met David but has heard he’s a decent guy, having raised eight kids alone. She flashes a sarcastic grin, likely wondering if her own dating life might benefit from a similar situation. Isabel is not shy about expressing concern that her mother is moving too fast, with Aspyn echoing her sentiments in a talking head, stating, “I am surprised by how fast things are going.” And can you blame them? Christine even talks about getting matching tattoos and leather pants with David. Talk about a whirlwind romance!
Kody’s Meltdown
Over at the Kody and Robyn Brown compound, it’s Kody’s 55th birthday. But instead of cake and balloons, he’s swimming in a sea of existential dread. Robyn reveals that Kody is living in fear of her leaving him, following his divorces from Christine, Janelle, and Meri.
“Kody’s been a very angry, upset, very lost person the last few years, and I have to recognize it for what it is,” Robyn confesses. “It’s just him in a painful place, and him in a place of fear that I will leave him too.” Sounds like someone needs a hug!
In a confessional, Kody reflects on his “interesting life” and the midlife crisis he’s navigating. “Five years ago on my birthday, I’m thinking, ‘OK, I’m halfway through, what do I want to do for the rest of my life?’” he muses. He admits to struggling with his values after all these upheavals and seems to be grasping at straws when it comes to his sense of direction.
Kody has a hard time accepting the reality that he’s no longer in a plural family. “There’s a struggle that I’ve had because I had this big picture that got shattered,” he admits. Meanwhile, he claims his life with Robyn is “a safe, kind and sweet place,” but he still feels like he’s juggling guilt over not being more involved with his other children. Oh, Kody, you can’t have your cake and eat it too!
Janelle Takes Action Against Kody
Janelle wastes no time when she meets with Kody to discuss their shared property on Coyote Pass. She comes in hot, wanting Kody to buy her out before a balloon payment is due in three months. Talk about a ticking clock!
Kody, eager to maintain whatever remains of the family legacy, attempts to manipulate the conversation by intertwining the idea of reconciling their marriage while dangling the fantasy of Janelle building on the property alongside him and Robyn. But Janelle makes it crystal clear she wants no part of Kody’s life anymore. Kody, caught off guard by her directness, and the convo pivots to Robyn. Classic Kody!
“I always felt like your life centered so much around Robyn’s house,” Janelle tells him, and you can practically see the tension in the air. Kody acknowledges that Robyn’s home has been a “safe” haven for him, but Janelle isn’t having any of it. “This happens every time the kids talk to him about Robyn, or I talk to him. It’s like he just doesn’t want to go there,” she says in a confessional, clearly frustrated.
Kody’s attempts to downplay the situation only further infuriate Janelle, who feels like he’s worshiping Robyn while neglecting everyone else. “That’s part of being a husband in a plural marriage,” she argues. “You have to be able to hear everybody equally.”
In a confessional, Kody brushes off their conversation about reconciliation, claiming, “Janelle has a card. It says victim on it. She likes to play it.” Janelle, of course, counters that she’s simply trying to protect herself and resents being labeled negatively.
When asked about their future, Janelle bluntly states, “I don’t think we even exist in the same universe anymore.” It’s clear the spark between them has fizzled out, and as much as Kody would like to pretend otherwise, it’s time to face the music.
In a talking head confessional, Robyn denies getting any special treatment from Kody. “I feel like anytime Kody makes a choice and they don’t like it, I get blamed,” she tells the cameras. “There’s this new concept that I have Kody just wrapped around my little finger and I’m doing evil spells on him, and [it’s] ridiculous.”
Meri’s Fresh Start
Meri Brown, on the other hand, is making moves post-divorce. She’s ready to carve out a new path for herself, especially after her official “release” from Kody. “I’ve been very independent,” she proudly states. “I’ve been very confident in what I’ve been doing, you know. And it’s something I’ve had to kind of grow into.”
She’s turning an old family home into a bed and breakfast — how quaint! Meri gives us a peek at the revamped workout and workspace at Lizzie’s Heritage, located in Parowan, Utah. It’s a multi-purpose room equipped with weights and mats, and she’s clearly thrilled to claim it as her own. “It’s my space that I’m going to go in and just, whether it’s working or working out or just being me, it’s just mine,” she exclaims.
Meri then checks out a newly renovated dining area and delivers the gem, “If they don’t want you at their table, make your own.” You go, girl! Turning the tables on her past, she invites her friends to join her at her newly established table, symbolizing her fresh start.
In a confessional, she emphasizes, “I don’t have to be somewhere where I’m not wanted. I’m going to have my own table. The people who want to be with me will be in my life, and I am so happy about the life that I’m creating and the table I have.”
Sister Wives continues to air Sundays, at 10 p.m. ET, on TLC.
