Jeff Lewis DEFENDS Shannon Beador After She Was Attacked In London

Jeff Lewis is shedding light on the confusion surrounding Real Housewives of Orange County star Shannon Beador’s conflicting statements about whether her ex, John Janssen, may have heard her recent DUI crash.

After Shannon gave differing accounts to Jeff and fellow housewife Heather Dubrow, Jeff took to his SiriusXM show to explain why she might have lied — and why he ultimately opted out of filming with her on Real Housewives of Orange County.

Jeff Lewis Defends Shannon’s Conflicting Statements

During an episode of Jeff Lewis Live, Jeff Lewis, 54, explained that Shannon, 60, was not being intentionally deceitful when she told him that it “never occurred” to her that John, 62, could have heard her crash her car into a Newport Beach home in September 2023. She was driving intoxicated at the time, with her dog Archie in the car.

“It never occurred to Shannon, it really didn’t,” Jeff insisted on his show.

However, Jeff Lewis admitted that while Shannon may not have thought about it at first, the idea crossed his mind immediately.

“I had been to John Janssen’s many times, and as I got all the information from the accident, I thought, ‘Wait a minute. You backed up. Literally, you hit that house in seconds,’” he recalled. “And I said, ‘How did he not hear that accident? That would’ve been a huge crash.’”

Was John Janssen Aware of the Crash?

According to Jeff Lewis, the logistics of John’s waterfront home made him question how John could have missed hearing the collision. “I don’t understand, Shannon. How did he not hear that accident?” Jeff wondered. He speculated that John must have been running to his front door or possibly intoxicated himself to have missed the loud noise.

“I think [he] could probably hear the crash. Or maybe he didn’t. Or maybe he was intoxicated or whatever,” Jeff reasoned.

Why Jeff Backed Out of Filming With Shannon

Jeff Lewis was initially scheduled to film a scene with Shannon for RHOC, where they would discuss the crash and John’s potential involvement. But ultimately, Jeff decided not to go through with it.

“The problem was that was when the lawsuit had kicked up,” Jeff explained, referring to the ongoing legal issues between Shannon and John. “I said, ‘I’m not doing this because he’s litigious.’ Even though I don’t know anything for certain, I wasn’t willing to take that risk.” Without protection from Bravo in case of legal repercussions, Jeff decided it wasn’t worth it. “I can’t risk getting sued,” he added.

Shannon’s Fear of Legal Consequences

According to Jeff, Shannon’s fear of more legal trouble from John was the reason she backtracked on her comments during their radio show. “We were both scared,” Jeff shared. Shannon allegedly told him, “I don’t wanna talk about this because he’s already suing me once. I don’t want to make any claims that he could have heard me.”

Jeff revealed that Shannon’s fear led her to lie on Jeff Lewis Live, but her reasons were understandable.

“She did lie on [my show]. She did. But she did it because she was afraid … [She’s] already dealing with him, with legal issues.”

Shannon Addresses the Confusion on WWHL

During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Shannon addressed the conflicting stories she shared about John and the DUI crash.

“On Jeff Lewis Live, I was super tired, you can hear it in my voice, and he said, ‘Have you ever thought about that?’ And I meant to say, ‘I hadn’t until he brought it up.’”

Shannon clarified that it wasn’t until Jeff called her 10 days after the DUI that she considered whether John could have heard the accident. “It had never occurred to me,” she said.

While Shannon continues to face public scrutiny over the incident, Jeff’s explanation adds context to her conflicting statements — showing that fear and exhaustion may have played a bigger role than anything else.

The Real Housewives of Orange County season 18 airs Thursdays, at 9pm ET, on Bravo.
