Joel Kim Booster Apologizes to Shannon Beador After Getting Dragged On Social Media
Comedian and Fire Island star Joel Kim is issuing a public apology to The Real Housewives of Orange County star Shannon Beador following his harsh comments on social media.
Joel Kim Booster, who is set to host a dating show featuring stars from Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise, took to Instagram to express his regret over statements made after a filming wrap party. He accused Beador of mistreating production staff but is now walking back those remarks.
Joel Kim Booster’s Apology
Booster’s initial comments against Beador were posted on his Instagram Stories, where he called out her behavior on set. However, following backlash, he has since taken accountability for his actions and expressed regret for letting his emotions get the best of him.
“I’ve had a lot of time to think and process about this and I wish I could say that I was not the guy who posted those statements on Instagram, but the fact is that I am,” Booster wrote. “I let an onset conflict cloud my judgment and accessed the darkest, ugliest part of myself and said things I don’t stand by or even believe, and I am deeply sorry that I allowed my worst self to cloud my judgment.”
Booster went on to acknowledge that Beador has been going through a difficult time, referencing her personal struggles, which have been part of her storyline on RHOC.
“I know Shannon has had an extraordinarily hard year as she has bravely shared, and as someone who has struggles of their own that have spilled over into work, I should have had more grace for her in that moment.”
In a heartfelt continuation, he added, “I am deeply sorry for the ways in which I’ve made Shannon’s road toward stability more difficult, and hope that she makes it out the other side of this stronger, healthier, and with the love that she deserves in her life. I regret making this a part of the story of our show, as I’m deeply proud of the work myself, the ladies, and the crew put into making it.”
Booster Defends Production Team
In addition to his apology to Beador, Booster also took time to praise the production team, with whom he worked closely on the show. In his third Instagram Stories post, he shared, “Love our incredible crew and production staff so much, and I would go to war for each and every single one of them.”
While Booster expressed regret over his public comments, his initial posts had already stirred up plenty of attention.
Shannon Beador Responds
Shannon Beador addressed the situation during a fan Q&A session alongside her RHOC co-star Vicki Gunvalson during their comedy tour. Beador revealed that she was caught off guard by Booster’s remarks, learning about them while at the airport.
“I really don’t know what it’s about,” Beador said of the incident. She recounted her last interaction with Booster, stating, “Before the wrap party, he had tears in his eyes, and he said, ‘I’m so happy for you.’”
Beador expressed confusion over the sudden shift, noting that Booster’s online comments were hurtful. “He trashed my daughters,” Beador claimed. “He said that I hope that I suffer. He said he feels sorry for John Jansen. He says that I’m nothing but a pathetic drunk, and it’s really going to look silly for him because he had nothing but love for me the entire show.”
Beador, who has had a tumultuous year, expressed sadness over the incident. “What I’m sad about is that I did some kind things on the show, and people said it was kind. It’s hard for me to walk away from an experience that I really enjoy. But we’ll see what happens. I don’t know where it came from, I really don’t.”
Booster’s Deleted Comments
Before issuing his apology, Booster’s original Instagram Stories, now deleted, made rounds on social media. One of the most shocking statements was shared by Bravo fan account Bravo Historian on X (formerly Twitter). In the post, Booster wrote, “Just because you’re a pathetic drunk on a reality television show best known for a string of failed relationships and a DUI does not make you a star and does not give you license to treat the people you work with like they are subhuman. Period.”
In the same post, Booster teased the possibility of releasing behind-the-scenes footage. “They will make me delete this but DM me if you’d like to see some videos. Besos!” he added.
Shannon Beador’s Legal Issues and Personal Struggles
Beador’s rough year has been well-documented both on and off RHOC. In September 2023, she was involved in a hit-and-run incident while driving under the influence, which resulted in her being sentenced to three years of probation. Her storyline on RHOC season 18 has focused on the aftermath of her DUI as well as the fallout from her breakup with longtime boyfriend John Jansen. Adding to the tension is the fact that Jansen is now reportedly dating Beador’s RHOC co-star, Alexis Bellino.
As Beador continues to deal with her personal struggles, Booster’s apology marks a step toward resolving the unexpected tension between them. Fans will be keeping a close eye on how the drama unfolds both on the show and behind the scenes.
