Jax Taylor REFILES for Divorce and Brings in Kevin Federline’s Powerhouse Lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan!
Jax Taylor has enlisted high-profile attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, known for representing Kevin Federline, as he navigates his divorce from Brittany Cartwright.
The move came after Brittany, 35, filed for divorce in August, prompting Jax, 45, to submit his own dissolution of marriage request on October 4, as revealed in court documents obtained by Us Weekly.
Jax’s decision to hire Mark, who famously handled Kevin’s custody battle with Britney Spears, comes after he made a significant error while initially representing himself. In the original paperwork, Jax mistakenly indicated that he and Cartwright, who wed in 2019, were never legally married.
A rep for the couple quickly clarified the mistake, explaining, “While Jax made errors in filling out forms that are usually done by trained legal professionals, those errors will be amended without delay.”
Brittany couldn’t help but take a jab at Jax’s misstep, writing on Instagram, “We are legally married. I’m guessing paperwork is hard for some people,” in response to an E! News post about the filing error.
Lance Bass, who officiated the couple’s wedding, chimed in as well, commenting, “Pastor Lance signed the papers.”
Despite the hiccup, the couple appears committed to maintaining a healthy coparenting relationship for their 3-year-old son, Cruz. Jax’s rep confirmed that the pair had already settled all matters related to custody. “Jax and Brittany have long resolved all matters related to custody of Cruz and will continue to work together privately for the best interest of their son, which remains their overriding concern.”
Brittany echoed this sentiment in a recent interview, telling People in September, “I’m not ever going to take Cruz away from [Jax]. We will always put Cruz first and we are going to work towards a healthy coparenting relationship.”
Jax, meanwhile, spoke kindly of Brittany during a September episode of their podcast, saying, “I will always love and care for Brittany. She’s the mother of my beautiful son. All I want for us is to be amicable and even, hopefully, really, really good friends one day.” He added, “I know I’m an amazing father and I know that I will make an excellent ex-husband.”
As the divorce proceedings continue, fans will be watching to see how the former Vanderpump Rules stars navigate this next chapter in their lives.
