Kody Brown Admits He’s ‘Exhausted’ by the ‘Gossip Mill’ Surrounding His Family’s Breakdown

Kody Brown and Janelle Brown’s unresolved property issues are becoming a source of tension as they navigate their split.

In a sneak peek of the September 22 episode of Sister Wives, Janelle, 55, opens up about her uncertain future with Kody, also 55, as she and their daughter, Maddie, explore the possibility of buying a new property together in Montana.

Kody and I are not in communication,” Janelle admits. “Our relationship is over, but we both still live in Flagstaff. Yeah, there’s not been an official divorce. I don’t know how to get one, and I don’t need one.”

However, the pair still share ownership of the Coyote Pass property in Flagstaff, Arizona, a significant asset for the family. Janelle reveals that the land is not yet paid off, with the remaining note due in just six months. She expresses frustration with Kody’s lack of action, explaining, “They keep asking your dad, and he’s like, ‘I’m not going to make a plan till blah.'”

Coyote Pass Property Division Amid Marital Breakdowns

As Kody’s marriages to his other wives, Meri and Christine, have deteriorated, the division of the Coyote Pass property has become more complicated. Janelle breaks down the current ownership, revealing that Kody shares multiple lots with his remaining wife, Robyn, while Christine has relinquished her stake after leaving the family.

“So the first two-acre lot right now is Kody and I. The second two-acre lot is Kody and Robyn. The third is a four-acre lot, and it’s Meri, myself, and Kody,” Janelle explains. “And then, the five-acre lot, because Christine quit, claimed it is Kody and Robyn.”

While Meri has established her own business without using family funds, Janelle notes that the land is the only asset she expects to take from her marriage to Kody.

Financial Uncertainty and Growing Frustration

When Maddie questions what will happen if the note isn’t paid, Janelle shares her concerns that the seller could potentially take back the entire property. While she remains hopeful that Kody will resolve the financial matter, her daughter appears less convinced.

“I mean, that’s how it’s written. The rest of our property is collateral for the note. It’s insane to me that Kody is not taking this more seriously,” Janelle confesses in a private moment.

Kody, however, reveals that his relationship with Janelle has soured to the point where he no longer trusts her. “But I don’t trust her anymore and so I don’t give her any information,” he says, noting that he frequently receives questions from her about the property.

Kody’s Frustration with Family Drama

As tensions continue to rise, Kody expresses his frustration with the ongoing family drama, stating that he’s fed up with how information spreads within their fractured relationships.

“We will pay off the property when the time comes, and I’m not giving you any details about what I’m doing or whatever because I’m tired of disclosing information that goes through the gossip mill of our broken family,” Kody concludes.

The Brown family’s struggles with communication and trust, particularly regarding their financial future, highlight the ongoing challenges as their plural marriages fall apart.

Sister Wives airs Sundays, at 10 p.m. ET, on TLC.
