Diddy WAS Behind The First Tupac Shooting … Was He A SERIAL KILLER Too?
In a shocking twist to one of hip-hop’s most infamous incidents, new allegations are surfacing that Sean “Diddy” Combs may have played a role in the 1994 shooting of Tupac Shakur — and now, questions are being raised about whether his involvement goes even deeper, potentially pointing to a more sinister pattern.
Rapper Reflects on the Attack That Left Him Wounded and Shaken
Two years before his tragic death, Tupac Shakur survived a shooting that took place outside a New York City recording studio, with both the Notorious B.I.G. and Sean “Diddy” Combs nearby. The attack, which occurred in 1994, left the rapper injured and wary of those around him. In the aftermath, Tupac rushed inside the studio, only to find Biggie, Diddy, and others — their expressions and demeanor sending an eerie chill through him. He later hinted that it seemed they may have had prior knowledge of the incident.
Tupac Survives 1994 Shooting Outside Studio with Diddy Present
In 1994, Tupac had agreed to lend his talents to one of rapper Little Shawn’s tracks. Despite initial concerns, his fears subsided when he recognized someone familiar near the studio entrance. “As we’re walking up to the building, somebody screamed from up the top of the studio,” Tupac recounted to Vibe Magazine in a 1995 interview. “It was Little Caesar, Biggie’s sideman. That’s my homeboy. As soon as I saw him, all my concerns about the situation were relaxed.”
Feeling reassured, Tupac and his crew entered the building. As they approached the elevator, he noticed men he assumed were affiliated with Biggie. But things quickly took a dark turn. “So first I’m, like, These dudes must be security for Biggie, because I could tell they were from Brooklyn from their army fatigues,” Tupac recalled.
However, something didn’t sit right with him.
“Even Biggie’s homeboys love me, why don’t they look up? I pressed the elevator button, turned around, and that’s when the dudes came out with the guns — two identical 9 mms. ‘Don’t nobody move. Everybody on the floor. You know what time it is. Run your s***.’ I was, like, What should I do?”
Tupac froze as the men began shooting, leaving him with severe injuries. Though he was seriously hurt, he didn’t immediately grasp the gravity of his wounds.
Was Diddy Involved? Tupac Hints at a Possible Setup
After the shooters fled the scene, Tupac and his group rushed upstairs in the studio building. “So we jumped in the elevator and went upstairs,” Tupac said, describing the moments that followed the attack. “I’m limping and everything, but I don’t feel nothing. It’s numb. When we got upstairs, I looked around, and it scared the s*** out of me.”
What Tupac saw next unsettled him even further. Inside the studio, he found Diddy, Biggie, and others, but their reactions made him question whether they knew about the attack beforehand.
“Nobody approached me. I noticed that nobody would look at me,” Tupac shared, expressing his growing sense of betrayal. “Andre Harrell wouldn’t look at me. I had been going to dinner with him the last few days. He had invited me to the set of New York Undercover, telling me he was going to get me a job. Puffy was standing back too. I knew Puffy. He knew how much stuff I had done for Biggie before he came out.”
Tupac’s suspicions were clear — he believed the ambush was no coincidence and that Diddy and Biggie may have had prior knowledge of the attack.
Diddy Responds to the Allegations
Years later, as these allegations resurfaced, Diddy repeatedly denied having any involvement or foreknowledge of the attack. In 2008, when the LA Times published a now-retracted article implicating both Diddy and Biggie in the 1994 shooting, Diddy issued a strong statement rejecting the claims.
“The story is a lie, it is beyond ridiculous and completely false,” Diddy declared, per NPR.
“Neither the late rapper Notorious B.I.G. nor I had any knowledge of any attack before, during, or after it has happened. I’m shocked the LA Times would be so irresponsible as to publish such a baseless and completely untrue story.”
Despite the suspicions swirling around the incident, Diddy was never charged in connection to the attack.
Lingering Questions
Although the events of that night remain clouded in mystery, the 1994 shooting marked a pivotal moment in the escalating tension between East Coast and West Coast rappers. Tupac’s doubts about those present at the studio that night, particularly Diddy and Biggie, fueled his deep mistrust and set the stage for the infamous rivalry that would follow.
For Tupac, the memory of the attack haunted him until his death, with questions about who was involved — and who knew what — lingering in the minds of fans and music historians alike.
