Accused of serious sex trafficking charges, Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to return to a New York City courtroom on Wednesday afternoon, where his legal team will continue to push for his release on bail.

The music mogul was arrested Monday night following a grand jury indictment on three felony counts, including racketeering and sex trafficking. Federal prosecutors allege Combs was involved in years of sexual abuse against women.

Sean “Diddy” Combs, 54, is currently being held in the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, where his lawyers argue the jail’s “horrific” conditions are unfit for pre-trial detention. Marc Agnifilo, one of Diddy defense attorneys, is fighting to secure his client’s pre-trial release, emphasizing that Diddy voluntarily came to New York to surrender to authorities.

“This attempt to self-surrender is something the court should consider,” Agnifilo told U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky.

The defense maintains that Diddy’s willingness to turn himself in demonstrates that he is not a flight risk.

Agnifilo also pointed out that the Metropolitan Detention Center, where Diddy is currently housed, has faced scrutiny for its unsafe conditions.

“Numerous courts in this district have raised concerns with the horrific conditions of detention here,” Agnifilo wrote in a letter to the judge.

He referenced previous incidents of violence, including murders and suicides, that have occurred at MDC, stressing that Combs should not be subjected to such a dangerous environment.

Prosecutors Push Back

However, federal prosecutors are standing firm in their argument that Diddy should remain behind bars while awaiting trial. They assert that the allegations against him are too severe for him to be granted bail. Prosecutors described Diddy as a threat to the community, referencing his alleged violent behavior as detailed in the indictment. The government also cited Combs’ immense wealth as a potential reason he could flee the country, making him a flight risk.

The indictment, which was handed down by a grand jury earlier this week, charges Sean “Diddy” Combs with three felony counts: racketeering, sex trafficking, and using transportation to engage in prostitution.
