Porsha Williams Wins Legal Battle In Divorce from Simon Guobadia
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams has won a significant victory in her ongoing divorce from ex-husband Simon Guobadia, as a Georgia court ruled that their prenuptial agreement is valid and enforceable.
Porsha’s Court Victory
Porsha Williams has secured a significant victory in her ongoing divorce from Simon Guobadia. On September 12, a Fulton County court ruled that the couple’s prenuptial agreement, signed before their 2022 wedding, is “empirically fair” after Simon sought to challenge its enforceability.
Court Upholds Prenup
According to court documents obtained by US Weekly, Simon claimed that Porsha had misled him about her future career plans when he signed the prenup. He argued that he believed Porsha intended to be a stay-at-home mom, and that her decision to return to reality TV constituted a “non-disclosure of material fact and misrepresentation,” rendering the prenup unenforceable.
However, the court disagreed, noting that Porsha future employment plans were “not mentioned whatsoever” in the agreement. The judge emphasized that Williams had been a reality TV star for years, a fact that was well-known to Simon before signing the document. Additionally, the court highlighted that Williams and Simon spent over a year negotiating the terms of the agreement, which further disproved any claims of fraud or misrepresentation.
Discovery Requests
Porsha’s legal team also successfully fought against Simon’s attempts to subpoena materials from both Porsha and her employer, True Entertainment, LLC, which produces The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Her lawyers cited the prenuptial agreement, arguing that it was designed to “avoid contested and expensive litigation,” and that discovery should be limited to requests directly relevant to the prenup’s enforceability. The court agreed, denying Simon’s Emergency Motion to Compel Mandatory and Additional Discovery.
Porsha Returns to ‘RHOA’
The ruling comes months after Porsha filed for divorce in February, following 15 months of marriage. One week before the filing, Bravo announced that Williams would return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta for Season 16 after a two-year hiatus. Her return, she said, marks a new chapter in her life.
“I’m incredibly thankful for the vision and faith NBCUniversal has put in me to be a larger part of their family,” Porsha said at the time. “I’m looking forward to being back on The Real Housewives of Atlanta and showing the world my new world!”
Bravo’s Andy Cohen also commented on her return, clarifying that her divorce from Simon played no role in the network’s decision to bring her back to the show.
“None of us knew any of this was on the horizon, and this was really meant to be Porsha’s happily-ever-after kind of victory lap season,” Cohen explained on his Sirius XM radio show. “I was so surprised and taken aback.”
Porsha’s Personal Life and Previous Marriage
Porsha’s marriage to Simon followed her previous relationship with Dennis McKinley, with whom she shares her 5-year-old daughter, Pilar Jhena. Prior to Dennis, Porsha was married to former NFL player Kordell Stewart from 2011 to 2013. With the legal battle now resolved, Porsha is poised to move forward, both personally and professionally, as she steps back into the spotlight on RHOA.
