‘The Valley’ Star Brittany Cartwright Doesn’t Want to Share Custody With Jax Taylor Amid Divorce

Brittany Cartwright is seeking primary legal and physical custody of her three-year-old son, Cruz, after filing for divorce from Jax Taylor last month, following five years of marriage.

According to recent reports, Brittany has no plans to give Jax more than visitation rights, setting the stage for a potential custody battle between the estranged couple.

Just days after Jax, 45, acknowledged that their split was the “right” decision for both him and Brittany, 35, sources close to the couple suggested that Brittany is firm in her stance on custody.

Brittany isn’t interested in sharing custody with Jax,” an insider revealed to Life & Style on September 10. “She feels like she’s the one doing the lion’s share of the parenting, so there’s no reason she should give up 50 percent [of her] time with her son.”

The source further elaborated on Brittany’s perspective, adding, “Jax is always busy. He doesn’t have the lifestyle to be a parent, or at least that’s how Brittany sees it.”

This tension over parenting responsibilities may complicate the divorce proceedings as the couple continues filming the second season of The Valley together.

Jax, who was served with Brittany’s divorce papers in August, had been at their $1.9 million marital home in North Hollywood when the documents were delivered. According to court documents obtained by In Touch Weekly, Brittany hired a process server to deliver the papers in person on August 27, just hours after she filed her divorce petition in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Since their separation earlier this year, Brittany has moved out and is currently staying in an Airbnb, while Jax remains in their marital home.

As the divorce unfolds, Brittany and Jax continue to co-parent their son while preparing for the next season of The Valley, which is expected to premiere on Bravo later this year or early next year.

How their custody arrangement and divorce play out on-screen will likely be a major storyline in the upcoming season. For now, Brittany appears to be standing firm in her quest for primary custody, while Jax remains hopeful for an amicable resolution.
