Melissa Gorga Admits She Wasn’t Proud of Being on ‘RHONJ’ as Show Took a ‘Dark’ Turn
Melissa Gorga provided fans with a glimpse into the current casting decisions for the upcoming 15th season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey during her recent appearance on the No Filter with Zack Peter podcast.
The RHONJ star, 45, opened up about whether she would return to the series if her sister-in-law Teresa Giudice, 51, remains on the show and offered thoughts on several other topics, including cast leaks to bloggers and the possibility of Kathy Wakile’s return.
During the podcast episode, Melissa addressed the ongoing rumors surrounding the cast of the new season.
“Whenever you see, like, these little comments, or it’s gonna be these three or these two — nothing is true. They are casting right now is what I believe,” she shared. “I’m hearing little tidbits of this one interviewed and that one interviewed, and who did whose make up for this and that. So, I think they’re very much still figuring it all out.”
Despite earlier speculation that she might not return if Teresa stayed on the show, Melissa clarified her stance, saying her issue was more with the toxic environment than with any specific cast member.
“It was getting really dark and something that I wasn’t proud to even be on,” she explained. “I feel like that part of the show I grew out of, almost. I feel like what I was trying to say was that I want to be on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but I want it to be a Housewives show.”
She went on to describe the atmosphere surrounding the show last season, particularly the cast’s interactions with bloggers.
Melissa hinted that certain cast members, including Teresa and Jennifer Aydin, leaked information to bloggers ahead of time, allowing them to have the first and most engaging posts about new episodes.
“It’s pretty crazy and genius,” she admitted. “I mean, giving them the opportunity to watch the episode so that their tweets were ready… That is some, like, mastermind, like, someone sitting back there really trying to win.”
However, Melissa also expressed frustration with the leaks, calling them “unfair” to the rest of the cast. “We don’t get paid for all that extra work,” she said.
Despite the tension, Melissa remained positive about her relationship with the network, saying, “Do I love working with Bravo? Absolutely! You know, we just have to see what that turns into.”
Rumors have also circulated that she and Teresa might mend their long-standing feud to keep the show alive. However, Melissa quickly shot that down.
“I would love to know, like, who started that or how that came out, but that is completely untrue and fabricated,” she confirmed.
When asked about the possibility of Kathy Wakile returning to RHONJ, Melissa said she thought it could be an intriguing development.
“You know this show loves family drama, so bring it on,” she declared, hinting that Kathy’s return could stir up even more tension in the family-centric series.
Melissa also discussed the recent alternative reunion format, which saw the cast attending a watch party for the finale rather than the usual reunion.
“It didn’t give us much… I don’t think it was the best episode that came out of it,” she remarked, sharing her thoughts on the unconventional reunion format.
As the future of the cast remains uncertain, Melissa made it clear that she still has a passion for the show but wants to ensure the environment is positive moving forward.
