Susie Evans Reflects on Past Relationships Amid Breakup from Justin Glaze
As Susie Evans navigates her recent breakup with Justin Glaze, she’s taking a moment to reflect on her first public split, which many believe to be with Clayton Echard.
“I have regrets from how the last one went, to be honest, even though I feel like I was mostly private about that too,” Susie, 31, shared during the Friday, August 30, episode of the Almost Famous podcast. “Even the little bit that you give to people — like the way people recap it or put their own twists on it, or make assumptions — it can just be perceived in a way that you don’t want it to be.”
Susie was a contestant on season 16 of The Bachelor in 2022, where she vied for the affections of Clayton Echard, 31. Although their relationship initially ended on the show, the two reconnected afterward but ultimately went their separate ways later that same year.
Following her split from Echard, Susie developed a close friendship with Justin Glaze, 30. Fans quickly speculated that there was more to their bond, and in January, Susie confirmed their romance to E! News, saying, “Justin is my boyfriend. We’re dating.”
For several months, Susie and Justin shared glimpses of their relationship on social media, but fans began to notice that the couple had become less public about their romance earlier this summer. In August, Justin exclusively told *Us Weekly* at The Famously Average Golf Tournament that he and Susie were taking things “day by day.”
Later that month, Justin confirmed that they had parted ways.
“Susie and I, we’re not together,” Justin said on the *Almost Famous* podcast. “We are doing our best to — kind of, like I said — protect each other, keep things private as we try to navigate what this looks like for us.”
Susie echoed Justin’s sentiments, acknowledging that the breakup has been “painful” for both of them. “We’re both trying to navigate it and love each other through it,” she explained on the podcast. “We’re on great terms.”
When co-host Ben Higgins asked Susie if she thought it was “worth it” to pursue a relationship with a close friend, Susie became emotional as she reflected on her experience.
“My honest truth on that is like absolutely, it’s worth it,” Susie replied. “Justin and I’s friendship would have had to have changed regardless, like we were way too close for that to be normal if any of us started dating somebody else.”
Susie revealed that their friendship had already evolved into something more intimate before they officially started dating. “We were basically dating but just not kissing while we were friends,” she noted.
“If you feel love for somebody and you think there might be more there, absolutely try for it,” Susie continued. “Because what we did have in our relationship was so freaking fun, and like, it really was the best thing. I’ve never had somebody that’s been such a best friend that’s also become like a partner. It is really special, and I do think it can work with the right person and with the right tools and the right headspace and all that stuff.”
She concluded with a hopeful message for those considering a romantic relationship with a close friend. “If it’s a special person to you, it’s totally worth it. And even if it’s just for a season of life, you might get the most wonderful season of your life.”
