Emily Simpson Defends Alexis Bellino, Says No ‘Girl Code’ Was Broken with Shannon Beador
Emily Simpson is giving fans an inside look at the latest season of The Real Housewives of Orange County by dishing out superlatives for her castmates and sharing her thoughts on the budding romance between Alexis Bellino and John Janssen.
In a recent interview with Page Six, Emily participated in a fun segment called “RHOC Superlatives,” where she playfully assigned titles to her fellow Housewives.
When asked who she thought was the messiest, Emily didn’t hesitate to name Shannon Beador. She gave Alexis Bellino the title of “cringiest,” and praised Heather Dubrow for delivering the best performance of the season.
Katie Ginella, however, was dubbed the most underwhelming. Emily proudly labeled herself as the life of the party and also jokingly called herself the drunkest. As for fashion, she crowned Heather as the best dressed but opted not to name a worst dressed.
The conversation then shifted to the rumored offer from John Janssen to pay Alexis not to appear on the show, a claim that left Emily baffled. “Thank you for bringing that up. I had to read that a couple of times, and then I think I screenshotted it and sent it to Shane. I don’t even understand what this is,” Emily said, expressing her confusion.
She went on to question the logic behind the situation.
“Like that makes no sense to me at all. Like, what was the conversation? Was he like, ‘Well, if you decide not to go on the show, I’ll just pay you?’ That doesn’t make any sense. Like, you’re dating. You go on trips together. What? Does he write you a check? Does he Venmo you? Do they take taxes out of that? Does her agent get some of that? She has an agent. Does her publicist take a percentage? I don’t know how that works.”
Emily also opened up about her feelings toward Alexis and John’s relationship, explaining why she doesn’t see it as a breach of “girl code.” She revealed that Alexis confided in her about dating John after Kathy Hilton’s party.
“She actually told me that night after Kathy’s party. We went back to Orange County together. She told me that night in the car that she and John were a thing, like, they were in a relationship, and I was like, ‘Oh, okay. Alright.’”
Emily added, “I never had an issue with her dating John. I mean, they’re adults. They live in Orange County. They like each other. They seem happy. That’s fine. I mean, I was like, oh, this is interesting, but I didn’t think less of her or anything.”
Addressing the notion of “girl code,” Emily clarified, “And she doesn’t owe anything to Shannon. They’re not friends. They never film together. So, I just thought it was odd.”
When asked if Alexis and John’s relationship still seemed unusual, Emily replied, “They seem to be very happy because they want you to know how happy they are.”
