Brittany Cartwright Divorces Jax Taylor to End Their ‘Tumultuous Cycle’
Brittany Cartwright has officially filed for divorce from Jax Taylor, citing the need to break free from the “tumultuous cycle they’ve been living in,” according to a recent report.
“There’s a lot that has transpired over the past few months that she could not look past,” a source revealed to People. “This decision wasn’t made lightly but she feels adamant that it was the right one.”
The 35-year-old reality star made the decision to end her marriage of five years with Jax, focusing on the well-being of both herself and their 3-year-old son, Cruz.
The legal documents, obtained by Page Six, list “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split, with the separation date marked as January 24, 2024, just one day before Cartwright’s birthday.
In her filing, Brittany requested to waive spousal support for both herself and Jax, whose real name is Jason Cauchi. She also sought legal and physical custody of their son, granting Taylor visitation rights.
Shortly after filing for divorce, Brittany was spotted receiving an alcohol delivery, a detail that added to the ongoing speculation about the circumstances of their split. She first announced their separation in February, later revealing that Jax’s excessive drinking and aggressive behavior were the final straws.
“He would drink too much and become ‘as mean as a f–king snake,’” she reportedly shared.
Taylor, known for his candid discussions about his mental health and anger issues, recently checked into a treatment facility.
“Jax has always been candid about his mental health struggles, especially during the past few months on his podcast. He has made the decision to seek inpatient treatment,” his representative told Page Six.
During this challenging time, Jax’s family has asked for privacy. “This is a particularly sensitive time for him and his family. They ask for privacy and respect until he is ready to speak more on this matter,” the rep added.
Jax, who rose to fame on Vanderpump Rules, has expressed his determination to “get better” for the sake of his son, Cruz.
